In 2025, four leading obesity and nutrition organisations published joint advice on how to eat while taking a GLP-1. It was written for clinicians, but a lot of it matters if you have a history of binge eating.

Swipe for the five points we think matter most, and read our full breakdown on the blog. 💙

Something I've wanted to make for a long time: a simple way for parents to check whether their young athlete is getting enough fuel. 📋

The Fuel Check is a free 2-minute tick-list of the RED-S signs worth knowing, whatever the sport, plus what to do next, when to see your GP, and a page you can hand straight to your teen.

It's free. Link in bio.

"I'll start again tomorrow." After a binge, it can be tempting to draw a line under what happened and decide that tomorrow will be different.
Maybe you'll eat less.
Avoid certain foods.
Be more "disciplined".
But when starting again means becoming stricter with food, it can keep a difficult cycle going.
You don't need to compensate for what you've eaten, and one episode doesn't mean you've failed.
If you're finding yourself caught between binge eating and trying to make up for it afterwards, you deserve support that looks at the bigger picture. 🩵

The aftermath of a binge can bring a lot of difficult feelings.
You might feel guilty, ashamed or worried about what happened. You might even find yourself thinking about how you can "make up for it" tomorrow. But you don't need to punish yourself for eating.
Trying to compensate afterwards can become part of a difficult cycle around food, and one episode of binge eating doesn't mean you've ruined everything.
If you're caught in this cycle, you don't have to figure it out alone. Support can help you understand what's happening and find a way forward. 🩵

Coming off a GLP-1 can bring a lot of uncertainty, especially if you've experienced binge eating before. You might be wondering what will happen to your appetite, your eating patterns or your relationship with food when the medication stops. But you don't have to wait until you're struggling to think about what comes next. Life beyond GLP-1s deserves support too. 🩵 Read our latest blog to learn more. Link in bio.

Coming off a GLP-1? Here's what's worth doing first. 💙

Most of the conversation around GLP-1s focuses on starting treatment. Less attention goes to what happens when someone stops — and for anyone with a history of binge eating, that transition can bring up real fear.

The medication was one tool. It created space by quieting appetite, but it didn't replace the skills and support that hold steady once that space closes back up.

The single biggest thing that helps: building your support plan before you start tapering, not after you're already struggling.

That means having a dietitian who knows your history, a therapist if binge eating is part of your past, your prescriber kept in the loop, and one person in your life who knows what's happening and can check in.

Want to understand more about what actually happens to your hunger and eating patterns when you stop? We covered that here: https://thebluebirdcentre.com/glp1-food-noise-binge-eating/

Prepared doesn't mean perfect. It means you're not figuring this out for the first time in a hard moment.

Worried about regaining weight after coming off a GLP-1?

Weight changes don't mean you've failed, and responding with more restriction isn't always the answer.

There are other ways to support your health as things change, from nutrition and strength to your relationship with food. 🩵

Coming off a GLP-1 can bring changes that you might not have expected.

You may notice your hunger increasing, food thoughts becoming louder, or eating feeling different again. And if you've experienced binge eating or struggled with your relationship with food before, those changes can feel particularly difficult.

But increased hunger isn't a failure. And noticing more food noise doesn't mean you've suddenly “lost control”.
There can be a lot to navigate when reducing or stopping a GLP-1, from your relationship with food to making sure you're adequately nourished and supporting your wider health.

If you are taking glp-1 medication and considering coming off it or scared of what that will look like, it is so important to put habits into place before you stop. This will help towards a smooth transition without it.
