The Year Three Data Story is out, our annual look at how members’ health changes between scans. More than 80,000 members scanned in the UK and Sweden, and 9,138 came back for a second scan around a year later. Here’s what we found.
We track these seven biomarkers because our members’ actions can impact them: systolic and diastolic blood pressure, non-HDL and HDL cholesterol, HbA1c, weight, and grip strength as an objective measure of physical function.
In 12 months between scans, hearts aged only 9 months on average. To contextualize the improvements, we use a clinically validated “heart age”, the age at which a person with a healthy cardiovascular profile would have the same risk of heart attack or stroke.
Across the seven biomarkers, the group with known chronic conditions improved about 2.5 times as much as members with no known conditions.
