A little appreciation post for my wee job and my wee life and ofcourse you guys 💖❤️

Lately I've been very busy, I feel like I pretty much live in the salon at this point 😂 but I love it!

Just yesterday at work (Mondays are always my long days) I was in 9am until 7pm. I set up my room as normal around 8.30am and lit my little 8hour tea light candles and got on with my day. I was mid way through a treatment at some point in the day and I smelt that smell ( you know the one when a candle has gone out) and I thought to myself 'wtf - they're meant to be 8 hour candles!!' 😡😡 I continued to have a wee rant to myself for a good few minutes 😂 until suddenly I realised ... it had actually been 8 hours and 30 mins since I lit them!!

My point is ... I enjoy what I do so much that 8 hoirs flew past without me realising !

the whole "find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life" is a very true saying ❤️

working for myself is as rough as old ducks sometimes but wouldn't change it for the world, it's 100% the best thing i've ever done and I couldn't do it without you.

I met Carly when I first started working at The Old Course and we quickly realised we have lots in common and although slightly different personalities- we are basically the same person! 😂 we laugh about this often.

But one main thing we share in common is our absolute LOVE for high quality massage, that total switch off spa treatment that sends you to another planet that is often indescribable if you've never had it. (if you don't know, get to know) just lush!!

Hello!

So I thought I'd reintroduce myself and tell you a bit about me ❤️

My name is Shona, and I first was introduced to massage when I was 17 years old - I left school and had ZERO idea what I wanted to do career wise! I'm not the most academic, I couldn't think of anything worse than call centres or receptionist jobs, didn't think I was particularly great with kids, so for me it was a toss up between Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy at college. I chose Beauty and hoped for the best! As soon as the massage unit started I just fell in love with it I was obsessed with watching my tutors hands and how she moulded to the body, I felt like I enjoyed watching it more than being the one receiving it! So it was 100% meant to be!

I worked in Mcds along side college and ended up getting stuck in a rut and stayed in Mcds for TEN years and didn't do anything with my qualification!! what a waste! I'd massage friends now and again but that was it! I had not very much confidence in myself so that was a huge factor in that silly choice. anyway long story short - after about 8 years in mcds i went back to college to study for a higher qualification in Beauty- HND - which was HARD btw!! don't let anyone tell you beauty is easy coz my F**k I almost died!

After college - I finally got a job at The Fairmont, and then I moved on to The Old Course Hotel where I spent the majority of my career. I had small breaks to have a baby, I tried Gleneagles Spa , and salon work but The Old Course always felt like home. I worked my way up to Premier Therapist where I was also the in-house trainer for a short while but after being there so long, I just felt i'd gone as far as I wanted.

I love a Spa Experience and how special a treatment feels, it's not 'just a massage'. It should be an amazingly thorough massage - yes - but also a DEEP RESET button for your mind and soul.

So although I can't offer you a swim, sauna, steam room or Jacuzzi 😭😭😭😭 I can give you a bloody good massage!!! 😃 and that I promise 💝💕
