Your goal isn’t necessarily to reach as many people as possible.

Your goal is to reach MORE of the people who could realistically become your clients.

And please don’t look at another spray tan artist getting 100K+ views and automatically think:
“Her marketing is better than mine.”
Her Reel may have reached thousands of people who will never become her clients.

But when your main income comes from people physically walking through your salon door?

Small changes behind the scenes can make a big difference to your experience.

For years, I used brushes to apply drying powder after your spray tan. But this year, I decided to move towards a drying powder applicator wherever possible, not just because it’s quicker, but because I’m always looking for ways to make my service more hygienic, safer and more efficient. 🤎

This summer was incredibly hot, and I noticed more clients coming in with various skin concerns, including fungal skin infections. It made me rethink how I could reduce unnecessary contact between tools and the skin even further.

Using a powder applicator means I can significantly reduce my use of brushes and minimise direct contact with the skin. It also means fewer tools requiring washing and disinfection after all day (washing and desinficate 20+ brushes take lot of time), less cleaning time and fewer disinfectant products being used, while still giving you that soft, dry finish after your tan.

And because drying powder becomes airborne during application, my extraction fans are always running while I apply it. 💨 This helps remove airborne powder from the treatment area and reduces the amount you and I may inhale.

I’m constantly reviewing the way I work, from my spray tan technique and products to hygiene, ventilation and equipment.

From the base tan to those final few minutes before stage… every detail matters.

I couldn’t wait… I just had to try the Glowset Drying Powder Applicator.

These are only my first impressions and I definitely need to test it properly during busy days, but I’ve already noticed a HUGE difference between the Glowset applicator and the one I’ve been using from Amazon.

The Amazon applicator (yes… from the gardening department) is powerful and still much better than applying powder with brushes, but at the end of the day, it wasn’t designed for spray tanning. It blows the powder quite aggressively, which means more powder flying around and more mess.

Glowset feels completely different.
Instead of blasting the powder, it creates a soft, controlled “powder cloud” around the body. ☁️ It feels much more suitable for professional spray tanning and my first impression is genuinely very positive.

BUT… you know me. Before I properly recommend something, I want to TEST it.

So next I’ll be comparing:
- how both applicators distribute the powder
- how much mess/waste they create
- how they perform during a busy working day
- how Glowset performs with different brands and types of drying powder
