Thinking about dermal filler and wondering whether it can be undone?

Hyaluronic acid fillers can usually be dissolved with an enzyme that's a prescription-only medicine, used only after a face-to-face assessment by an appropriately qualified prescriber. Collagen-stimulating and permanent fillers can't be dissolved in the same way. Dissolving can reduce filler, but it may take more than one appointment and doesn't always return an area to exactly how it looked before.

Thinking about fat dissolving injections? Here is what to expect before you book.

The treatment is designed for small, stubborn pockets of fat, not for weight loss. It will not change the number on the scales, and it is not a substitute for eating well and staying active.

Not every fullness is fat. Under the chin, jaw shape, skin laxity and muscle tone all play a part, so a consultation should check what is actually contributing before injections are recommended.

Recovery is the part people often underestimate. Swelling, redness and tenderness are common, usually for three to five days but sometimes for weeks, and the area can feel firm or lumpy for a couple of weeks. Plan treatment well away from important dates.

Results develop gradually over a course of sessions spaced a few weeks apart. Ask how progress will be reviewed, and take consistent photos so you can compare fairly.
