I was dead set on ticking all the boxes in my 30s, like saying yes to every plan, using skincare products only for posh do's, and thinking any red lipstick would do the trick. Well, I've learned a bit since then!

Now, I'm all for setting those boundaries and finding my everyday skin routine. Oh, and that perfect red lipstick - it's a game-changer when you find it, isn't it? I still have my go-to shade in the bathroom.

I hear some funny little paradoxes in clinic, especially from women who are used to downplaying what they want.
Someone will tell me they want to feel more polished, then immediately apologise as if they have asked for a yacht.
Both can be true, you can care about your appearance and still be a grounded, kind, sensible human.
You can take your time, ask a million questions, and change your mind, and you are still a dream client in my book.
A little glow can be as simple as wanting to look like you slept, drank some water, and had a decent week.
You do not need to defend that in a courtroom, or give me a ten point essay on why you deserve it.

I will suggest less if it suits your face, your budget, or your nerves that day. I will talk about risks, even when it is a bit of a mood killer, because you deserve the full picture before anyone goes near your skin. I will happily slow things down and send you away to think, especially if you have come in after a stressful Tuesday and a scroll on your phone.

Your future face has to live with decisions made in a rush, and mine is very much a long game. I am not here to sell you a syringe, I am here to help you make a good call.

Most of my favourite appointments end with a plan and a cup of water, not a treatment there and then.

The aesthetics industry has a few secrets, and most of them are hiding in plain sight.

I see so many people arrive thinking they need whatever is trending this week, when what they really need is a plan that suits their face, their budget, and their actual life.

If something only makes sense on Instagram, I always pause, and I will tell you why. Your treatment plan should feel logical, paced, and a bit boring on paper, because boring is usually what gives you the best results.

I would much rather you do one small thing well than chase ten ideas at once and end up feeling like a stranger in your own mirror. The real flex is looking like yourself on a very good week.

I would genuinely rather you take two weeks, come back calm and certain, and we make a plan that feels right for you. The best choices still feel sensible the next day, and the day after that.

After a really good consultation, a few things quietly click into place. It should feel like a proper conversation, where you are heard and nobody is trying to steer you into a quick booking.

You leave with a clear plan that makes sense for your face, your budget, and your diary, even if the plan is to do nothing yet.

You should feel comfortable asking the slightly awkward questions, because they are usually the important ones.

You are also completely allowed to say, “Let me think about it,” and actually mean it. A consult is for clarity, not for cornering you. Most people tell me they feel lighter walking out, because the decision suddenly feels simpler.
