I haven’t posted in forever - so why not hard launch back into posting on the grid with this insane set of copper extensions? 💥🌶️ ❤️‍🔥

Sometimes in life there comes a point where you sit in the hair chair and go “f**k it, I need a change… let’s do it” and that infact was one of these moments.

My client Kelsey has been debating copper for over a year, it just so happened that this day she came in, she was booked to have a balayage touch up and maintenance on her current balayage extensions… but it just so happened I had copper extensions sitting in the salon looking pretty and it was in that moment she said, F**K IT. Let’s dye my hair copper and fit those extensions instead and that is in-fact exactly what we did.

So here’s a photo of Kelsey’s copper extensions. Remi Cachet Hair Extensions shade 33 ✨ I styled using ghd professional ghd hair 32mm Chronos Curling Tong

This might ruffle a few feathers… but maybe it needs to. 👀

I love this industry. It has given me a career I’m proud of, incredible clients, lifelong friendships and opportunities I never imagined when I started 16 years ago.

But loving an industry doesn’t mean pretending everything about it is perfect. Somewhere along the way, followers started carrying more weight than experience. Going viral became enough to call yourself an expert. Individuality was replaced by AI or whatever aesthetic was trending and the clients who built our careers started becoming an afterthought.

There is room for ambition.
There is room for educators.
There is room for brand deals and big platforms.

But there also needs to be room for honesty, originality, proper experience, ongoing support and genuinely putting the client first.

And for the record: a smaller following does not mean smaller talent and a huge audience does not automatically equal knowledge, integrity or skill.

You don’t have to agree with everything I’ve said. In fact, I’d rather you didn’t just agree for the sake of it!

Let’s have an honest conversation instead, finish this sentence in the comments:

“One thing I wish we spoke about more in the hair industry is…” 👇🏻

No polished answers. How do you honestly feel?

New baby lights range by and the new shades are right up my street.

Hair extensions should always be as seamless, blended, soft and as expensive looking as possible, so when a brand creates shades that help to achieve that it’s so exciting.

The new range consists of tiny soft baby lights running through the root melts, and the mid-lengths and ends mixing shades that look so much more soft and subtle which in return creates that more expensive luxury look.

To create this look on gorgeous client who is also a fellow Remi Cachet Super Stylist - I used BL1B-4/6 using 120grams in half wefts in 20” and we also used the same shade in nano tips for the face frame area.

A client requesting “200grams in 24 inches please” - doesn’t understand or have the expertise to understand what it takes for their natural hair to be able to safely support that amount of hair. That is down to you and only you, your professional judgement, your understanding and knowledge.

A placement pattern you learnt on a 6 hour day course shouldn’t be copy and pasted onto every client, because a placement pattern cannot assess:

Density distribution
Individual hair diameter
Scalp health
Head shape
Compression
Weight capacity
Lifestyle
Previous damage
Styling habits
Product aftercare

If you’re allowing your clients to demand to you what they are having and you’re fitting those extensions because you don’t know any different - my ‘Not Just Another Weft Course’ that is launching is ideal for you.

I am teaching to think beyond copying the steps you were taught, I am teaching professional judgment and thinking, how to apply extensions that can be safely supported by your clients natural hair, how to adapt, troubleshoot, and to understand the know, why and how.

My work is entering a new chapter but the standard behind it remains the same.

I’ve spent 15 years working with hair extensions, but the most valuable thing those years have taught me isn’t how to repeat one application, It’s how to understand the individual sitting in front of me.

How density, diameter, scalp health, texture, head shape, lifestyle, tension, weight and placement can completely change the decisions we need to make and that thinking shapes every client transformation I create.

I’m now placing an even greater focus on bespoke services, including premium straight hair, natural wavy and curly textures and exceptional virgin Slavic hair for women who value quality, personalisation, natural hair health and a result designed specifically for them.

But this next chapter also takes me beyond the chair - I’m building ‘Not Just Another Weft Course’ which is advanced education for qualified extensionists who want to understand the reasons behind their work, rather than simply copying someone else’s steps, and I am also building a whole programme based around natural wavy and curly hair, texture, pattern manipulation, Slavic hair and how to work with different hair types.

I want to help extensionists assess more deeply, recognise patterns, adapt intentionally and make decisions with greater confidence.

So, whether you’re here because you want exceptional hair designed around you or because you want to become a more knowledgeable and intentional extensionist - you’re in the right place.

For clients: you can apply for a bespoke consultation through my bio.

For qualified extensionists: you can join the priority list for ‘Not Just Another Weft Course’ through my bio.

Welcome to the next chapter. 💛

A placement diagram can give you a starting point but It can’t assess the client sitting in your chair. This comes from experience, professional knowledge and education.

The more heads you work on, the more you realise that real expertise lives in the decisions between the steps.

This is one of the reasons I’ve been building my education programme.

Would you want to learn more about the physics and decision-making behind row placement? Instead of placing the same row on every single clients head just because that’s what you were taught to copy?

If the answer is yes - you’re going to love my education programme and I can’t wait to help you. 💛

Some of my fav quotes to live by in life and also business.

One thing I can’t wait for when I launch my education programme, IS HELPING OTHERS.

I get satisfaction and pure happiness from helping clients in my chair, that’s why I started my business in the first place. Helping people’s confidence, making their hair goals come to life, speaking with people and them trusting you/opening up to you…

I can’t wait to feel this same sense of satisfaction and happiness from helping other business owners wanting to learn from me.

I know how it feels to not have anyone to ask for help, I remember starting out in my career completely winging it because everyone would gate keep and they most certainly didn’t want to clap for you, there wasn’t really a ‘community’ I could go to for any questions I had, i literally had to teach myself everything, and that can feel extremely lonely.

Being a business owner can feel extremely lonely and overwhelming, and if it was easy - everyone would do it.

I want to be the person you can come to if you’re feeling that way, I want my education to be for those who feel stuck and don’t know who to ask for help, I want to be the safe place you don’t feel judged for asking what you may feel is a silly question.

This next chapter of my new salon build and education for 2026 is seriously going to bring so much knowledge, happiness, love and support and i honestly can’t wait for it. 💛

Yasmin James IM SORRY… you look phenomenal with your natural waves. 🤏🏻🤏🏻🤏🏻🤏🏻🤏🏻

Yasmin has been heat styling her hair like most of us since she can remember, she has never embraced her natural hair - especially with extensions, she reached out and said she wanted to embrace her waves especially as shes moving abroad to a very hot and humid country (and if your a natural wavy/curly girl with straight extensions you will understand the everyday struggle that will bring trying to fight the humidity)…

so she ditched the straight extensions and came to me and we fitted virgin Slavic wavy hair which matches her natural texture and wave/curly girl pattern perfectly - she will be able to wear this hair completely untouched and left to air dry, she will be able to apply wavy/curly products if she wants to and she will also be able to heat style if she wants to, and every option means it will match her natural hair no matter what.

I fitted a mixture of 24” and 20” and in nano bonds and then also added more layering, once Yasmin adjusts to this hair - I suggested maybe adding some 14” and 16” waves and curls to really enhance volume and shape and give her more of a wavy/curly cut style (but I want her to get used to this hair first before we do that, as embracing your natural hair and then also having a lot of volume straight away can feel a little overwhelming) ❤️‍🔥

BUT WHAT DO WE THINK? I think she looks honestly phenomenal with this hair!! Yasmin James

I used John Frieda dream curl mousse
Redken Redken all soft leave in cream
Kérastase elixr oil
