This is their familiar routine, and as you can see, they’re very happy to come in. We let them make their own way—and apparently walking just isn’t quick enough!
Caring for our herd is at the heart of everything we do. Milking time also gives us a chance to spend time with each girl, check her over and notice any little changes. Knowing their individual personalities and habits means so much.
These girls are our family, and their care comes first. Behind every batch of our goat’s milk skincare are the animals we know, love and look after every single day.

Some people spend their evenings watching Netflix. I’m watching videos about counting worm eggs in goat poo.
Living the dream, obviously.
But in all seriousness, I’m absolutely committed to the care of our herd. After being let down by our previous vet, and with the cost of regularly sending off worm-count samples, I thought: right, I’m going to learn how to do this myself.
So I’ve been watching some wonderful worm-counting videos on YouTube — NOT while eating dinner, I might add — and getting to grips with the microscope. It’s genuinely fascinating!
Did I ever imagine I’d be sifting through goat poo and studying what’s in it? Absolutely not. Yet here we are. Other people have hobbies. I have little pots of droppings.
There’s plenty to learn, and home worm counts are one part of monitoring their health, alongside veterinary advice. But understanding more helps me take a more informed, hands-on role in their care.
These goats are our family. I take responsibility for their welfare seriously, and if that means learning new skills and getting far more familiar with their poo than I ever intended, then that’s exactly what I’ll do. 💚🐐
