For me, the prep and planning that goes into your wedding morning is a really important part of the bridal experience. As a bridal makeup artist based in Kent, part of my job is making sure you and your bridal party feel relaxed, looked after and never rushed on the morning of your wedding.

I’m very happy to take on larger bridal bookings too. When needed, I have a lovely team of artists who I know and trust and regularly work alongside. This means that even with a larger bridal party, everyone has plenty of time to get ready without feeling rushed — and, most importantly, you can enjoy the morning, have a drink, eat, spend time with your friends and family, and take in those special moments before the day begins.

I really believe your getting-ready time should be just as special as the rest of your wedding day.

It was such a privilege to do the makeup for the bride and groom's mums — such a special and important day for them too. I absolutely loved being part of all those beautiful moments throughout the morning.

A little seaside escape for my husband’s birthday...

The five of us enjoyed a weekend of swimming, games, football, hours spent on the beach, blackberry picking, bird watching and even spotting muntjac deer in the garden. Lots of laughter, good food and, most importantly, proper time together. ❤️

And amongst all the photos, I found myself thinking about social media and how much the industry has changed.

I did my first wedding makeup job in 2004 and have now spent over 20 years working in makeup and hair. Throughout those years I’ve continued to train, learn and evolve — I’ve never really stopped being a student of my industry.

But if I’m honest, I struggle with how much social media has changed things.

There are days I wonder if I’m posting enough, creating enough, keeping up enough… and it’s so easy to compare yourself to everyone else.

But after 20 years, I know that what we do is about so much more than what fits into a post or a reel. It’s years of experience, training, relationships, trust and genuinely caring about the people we work with.

I don’t want to post just to beat an algorithm or chase numbers. I want to share the work I love, the people I meet, the things I’m learning and the real life in between.

Maybe we all need a little less pressure to make everything perfect and a little more freedom to just be ourselves.

So for now, I’m choosing the sea, family time and making memories over worrying about an algorithm.

Happy birthday to my husband. I’d choose these moments with you and our children over anything, any day.

There’s one thing about being a bridal makeup artist that nobody really prepares you for…

You meet your bride at her preview, spend a little time getting to know her, then before you know it, it’s the wedding morning.

And suddenly you’re part of all the excitement — the family, the friends, the stories, the laughs, the nerves, the happy tears… and all those little moments in between.

And then comes the bit I always find so bittersweet…

saying goodbye.

Because somewhere between the preview and the wedding morning, your bride stops feeling like just a client.

And Fay summed up this wedding morning perfectly when she said:

“I just don’t want it to be done.”

Even though she had the most amazing part of her day still ahead of her, she was genuinely having the best time getting ready with the people she loves.

And honestly, isn’t that exactly what getting ready on your wedding morning should feel like?

Fun. Relaxed. Full of laughter. Surrounded by your favourite people.

And I absolutely loved being part of it.

Fellow bridal makeup artists… please tell me I’m not the only one who gets a little attached to my brides and then secretly doesn’t want to say goodbye?!

A little glimpse into Suki’s beautiful wedding morning at The Knowle

Suki got married in August and I had the loveliest morning getting everyone ready. I did Suki’s hair & makeup, both her sister’s hair, her mum’s hair and makeup and her maid of honour’s hair & makeup. Here’s a little before & after and a peek at the morning from start to finish.

There was plenty of Disney music, singing, dancing, lots of laughs and that lovely mix of excitement and calm before the celebrations began.
