FIX-IT FRIDAY: A client asks to have their old lip filler dissolved using Hyalase. Before you even touch the filler, what are your FIRST 3 moves? 💉
Monday – The Answer
1. PATCH TEST: Perform an intradermal patch test on the client's forearm using a small dose of diluted Hyalase (e.g., 0.1 ml / ~15 IU).
2. WAIT & OBSERVE: Wait 30 minutes to monitor the test site for signs of an allergic reaction (redness, swelling, or wheal formation).
3. ASSESS & PROCEED: Only proceed with the dissolving treatment if the patch test is completely negative and the client shows no signs of sensitivity.
Never skip your prep! A patch test 30 minutes before administering Hyalase is an essential safety step to protect your client from severe allergic reactions or anaphylaxis.

💬 WHY CLIENT EXPECTATIONS MATTER
Being a good practitioner isn’t just about knowing how to carry out a treatment.
It’s also about understanding what your client wants, what is realistically achievable and whether the treatment is actually appropriate for them.
Clear communication before treatment helps create realistic expectations — and knowing when to manage those expectations, adjust the treatment plan or even say no is an important part of being a responsible practitioner.

🚨 FIX-IT FRIDAY: THE ANSWER 🚨
Mid-injection, your client suddenly turns pale, breaks out in a cold sweat, feels dizzy and loses consciousness in the chair.
What are your FIRST 3 MOVES? 👇
1️⃣ STOP
Cease injecting immediately, make the needle safe, and protect the client’s head.
2️⃣ LAY FLAT
Recline the chair completely flat and elevate their legs to help restore blood flow to the brain.
3️⃣ RECOVER
Apply a cool compress to the forehead and monitor the client until they are fully recovered.
⚠️ If the client does not regain consciousness promptly, call 999 and follow your clinic’s emergency protocol.
Vasovagal syncope is one of the most common causes of fainting during aesthetic treatments. The key is quick recognition, correct positioning and calm management.
