Barbells & Business Cards is designed to bring new opportunities, learning and meaningful connection to everyone in the room! By bringing the 'Health' World (manual therapists, wellbeing workers, PTs, Gym Owners and Health Specialists) together with the 'Business' World (Entrepreneurs, owners, operators in all areas Legal, Financial, Coaching, Mentoring and more); we've already had a large number of collaborations and opportunities come to fruition with great benefits to all involved - and we don't just mean on the profit front!

Yes, there IS a bit of a 'sporty' theme to our marketing and events, but we are open to all who are interested in exploring and diversifying their business!

A five week month does play havoc with the schedule, doesn't it! At least now we are OFFICIALLY only TWO WEEKS OUT from the next Barbells & Business Cards event!

This one is definitely going to be a bit more relaxed, given that we're well aware it falls smack-bang in the middle of the holidays! However, we will still have lots going on and plenty of opportunities for everyone to meet, chat ad discover NEW OPPORTUNITIES around the room!

We'll even keep the posts a bit shorter for you too in this heat! So, here's the details and we'll see you then! 🎉😁👍

We need your HELP!

This one's primarily for everyone that works under our 'Health' umbrella, namely the Health, Wellbeing, Sports & Fitness business owners and operators out there! (and we'll happily take answers from everyone!)

Whether you're a Manual Therapist such as Massage or Physio; a Wellbeing Coach such as a Menopause Coach or Men's Wellbeing Coach; a Sports Club coach or Gym Owner, in any discipline; or a Fitness Entrepreneur like a Personal Trainer or Pilates Instructor --- and the many more not mentioned here —- we need to ask you a question that we just can't work out the answer to:

"What are your challenges with or about Networking as a business activity?"

Here's some of the thoughts we've had:

1. Too busy - the diary is full, the classes & appointments are all booked in.
2. Unknown - it's never been a thing, and you don't know why you need it.
3. In/On Ratio - All your time is spent IN your business, not working ON your business
4. Cost - ‘Too expensive’ and ‘cant afford it’ - there ARE some stories out there!
5. I haven’t got the time - dare we say, the ‘busy fool’ syndrome!
6. Not worth it - perception that it’s a waste of time

Do you agree with any of these? And if you do, why?

Given the six that we’ve come up with, here’s some things to consider against them all for Barbells & Business Cards:

1. Too busy - always a good thing, but it can lead to burn out! And if you’re burnt out, the ‘exciting’ stuff (like admin, records etc,) fall by the wayside. Networking is a must then to find the right support. ‘Do what you do best, and outsource the rest!’

2. Unknown - Yes, it can be daunting, but at Barbells & Business Cards, everyone is on the same page. We have very experienced networkers and business people in the room, as well as people who have never networked before. And many of them have already found a big opportunity they never expected to in the room!

3. In/On Ratio - As Health, Wellbeing, Sports & Fitness people, it’s often a case of ‘solo-working’, and therefore it’s easy to focus on getting the clients in and then working with them IN the business so the money keeps flowing. BUT, if you don’t take some time out to work ON your business - strategies, marketing, seasonal campaigns, growth planning, etc. - then your ‘highly profitable business’ will be very short term. Learning how to be a business owner is equally, if not MORE, important to the skills you use with your clients. Barbells & Business Cards already has many experienced ‘Health’ people that can support you.

4. Cost - Yes, some organisations have a membership that may be a little more (or a lot, in some 3-letter cases!) than expected. Whilst we are planning ahead with Barbells & Business Cards to build a community and a membership, at the moment, it’s only £10 for an event ticket! And we also have a Teammate Ticket available, so you can bring a friend, colleague or client with you for their first time for £5! Don’t be fooled though, the value provided is through the roof!

5. Haven’t got the time - you DEFINITELY need to join us then! Time management is an intrinsic part of running ANY kind of business, and we can help you with that! AND we’re on the last Friday of every month - currently only ONCE per month! Your clients are real people too, who have diaries, families and commitments all of their own - they are HAPPY to accommodate your needs just as much as you do theirs!

6. Not worth it - You will learn both HOW to network effectively and WHAT the benefits are of doing so. Barbells & Business Cards is designed to provide exactly this kind of support to ALL businesses and entrepreneurs attending. It’s not just a coffee and blether on time out the workplace!

COMPETITION TIME!!

It's Competition Time with Barbells & Business Cards!

Our Marketing for the last few months has brought our Stopwatch Character into play, and recently along with his buddies! However, there's something significant missing - they don't have names!

Our two main characters in the picture below need names that will not only be fun and engaging, but will also help with our Marketing campaigns in the future!

Rules:
1. Names can literally be anything, but we'd really like it if they went along with our 'Sporty' theme!
2. Whilst obvious things like 'Stopwatch Stan' or 'Chris the Clock' are fine to enter, we can almost guarantee now that they won't win!
3. Single-, double-, or triple-barrelled names are all welcome.
4. You can enter up to FIVE names PER Character.
5. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING RUDE!! These are for marketing and publication purposes!
6. COMPETITION CLOSES: Friday 17th April 2026

To Enter:
1. Come up with your names - designate them to the Left or Right Character in the picture below.

And this month we are introducing something NEW for you all! The Teammate Ticket!

We've shared several times that bringing a buddy along with you to networking is always a great idea - it not only gives them a chance to experience something new, but also increases the available potential opportunities in the room for everyone there, including them!

So we've made it even easier for you to ask them along! The Teammate Ticket is an add-on to your own ticket, and cost's just £5 for their first time along! We'll leave it up to you as to whether you gift this to them, or get it back from them after you've booked! (NOT in a 'Peaky Blinders' fashion, mind, we'll have none o' that! 😝)

Then it's simply a case of bringing them along with you, getting them registered at the door with us, and then getting into some great networking!
