After her stunning boho French curl braids, returning client Emma Jane wanted something different for her holiday to Portugal.

This time, we chose dark brown pick-and-drop braids with soft curly ends; elevated, easy to manage in the heat and practical for everything she had planned while away.

I visited City of Glasgow College to lead a braiding workshop, showing staff & students the technique up close and guiding them as they practised.

The first-ever SHABA Best Braid Stylist… and I WON! 🏆

I walked into SHABA 2026 as a finalist and left holding a piece of history.

For the first time, SHABA introduced the Best Braid Stylist category and hearing my name announced as its very first winner was a moment I will never forget.

I felt excited, overwhelmed, grateful, blessed and completely surrounded by love.🤎

Sarah McCulloch Lesley Farrell Howey Ejegi 💈Glasgow Barbershop💈 Sean Marshall Hair and Lisa Glen, my table became my own little army of supporters. You celebrated me, encouraged me and made an already special night even more unforgettable.

To my incredible creative team: this award may have my name on it, but the vision I submitted was brought to life by all of us. Every hand, every idea and every detail mattered. I could never have created that final look alone, and I’m so grateful for each of you.

On stage, I also had the opportunity to thank the The Fellowship and Project Afro for giving me the space, support and creative environment to grow, explore and pursue my creative vision. That experience and the clients who continue to trust my hands has played such an important part in the artist I am becoming.

And to SHABA and GoLumiya - Never miss another call , thank you for creating a category that recognises the skill, artistry and cultural significance of braiding. To become the first person to receive this award is an honour I will carry with immense pride.

Last night was full of joy, laughter, dancing and the kind of fabulous fun I haven’t experienced in a very long time. My heart is so full.

Beauty Splendour is officially the SHABA 2026 Best Braid Stylist. 🏆 We made history and this is only the beginning.

When Lorraine first came to Beauty Splendour at 55, she wasn’t sure whether she was “too old” for braids.

But that first appointment changed far more than her hairstyle. She left feeling beautiful, confident and like herself again.

After removing her braids, Lorraine saw how much her own hair had grown and thought she was ready to return to her usual cut and colour. But once she had it done, she realised something…
