Your skin is the outermost layer of your body and deserves the same attention we give to our overall health. Good skincare isn’t just about how your skin looks — it’s about maintaining healthy, resilient skin for the long term.

When you come to me for a skin consultation, my advice is based on what I know, use and genuinely believe works. I mainly work with ZO Skin Health and Obagi, so naturally these are the products I’m most likely to recommend. I don’t represent or have experience with every skincare brand on the high street, so I can’t necessarily advise you on whether another product will give you comparable results. My role is simply to recommend what I believe is appropriate for your skin and your individual concerns.

The same treatment doesn’t always create the same result on every face. Facial ageing is influenced by much more than skin and volume — our underlying bone structure, teeth, dental support and natural anatomy all affect how the tissues around the mouth and lower face are supported. This is why simply copying a filler treatment you’ve seen on someone else may not give you the same outcome.

Good aesthetic treatment starts with understanding your anatomy, identifying where support has been lost and, importantly, recognising when filler alone isn’t the answer. A personalised treatment plan will always give a more balanced and natural result.

The interesting part about regenerative treatments is what is actually happening beneath the skin.

Treatments based on PLLA or PDLLA don’t simply “add collagen”. They create a controlled biological response that encourages fibroblast activity, new collagen formation and gradual remodelling of the extracellular matrix — the supportive framework around our skin cells.

Over the following weeks and months, this can improve the quality, density and structural support of the tissue. And importantly, as new tissue develops, we can also see a gradual, natural improvement in volume — rather than simply placing volume with a traditional filler.

So when we talk about collagen stimulation, it’s really part of a much bigger process of tissue regeneration and remodelling.
