LAST NIGHT I PERFORMED AN EMERGENCY PROTOCOL… 🚨

And I want to talk about it.

Because aesthetics isn’t always about beautiful before and afters. Sometimes it’s about recognising when something isn’t right and having the knowledge, confidence and clinical judgement to act.

Following a non-surgical rhinoplasty treatment, my client developed an area of blanching that became increasingly concerning during post-treatment monitoring.

Although some initial observations were reassuring, the changes in skin appearance raised concerns about a potential vascular complication.

And my philosophy has always been: IF IN DOUBT, GET IT OUT.

I made the decision to initiate my emergency vascular occlusion protocol, administering hyaluronidase to dissolve the hyaluronic acid filler.

Following intervention, we observed an improvement in skin colour and warmth. My client remained in the clinic for observation, with further assessment and ongoing monitoring arranged.

Why am I sharing this?

Because complications can happen, even in experienced hands.

What matters is recognising the warning signs, responding promptly, following evidence-based emergency protocols and ensuring appropriate follow-up care.

I will never prioritise an aesthetic result over someone’s safety.

I will never ignore my clinical instincts when something doesn’t look right.

And I will never pretend that complications don’t exist simply to maintain a picture-perfect social media presence.

Being a responsible practitioner isn’t about claiming complications will never happen. It’s about being prepared to manage them when they do.

Aesthetics is a medical responsibility, not just a beauty treatment.
