Introducing Zero Balancing

We’re pleased to introduce a new therapy at Hands-on Health, with our osteopath Mrs Jamie Rose now qualified in Zero Balancing.

Zero Balancing is a gentle hands-on approach developed by osteopath and acupuncturist Fritz Frederick Smith. It uses focused touch and pressure around the body's bones and joints, with the aim of encouraging deep relaxation and helping to release tension.

For Jamie, this is something that has been a long time coming. She first encountered Zero Balancing in 2004, and it helped inspire her interest in osteopathy. More than 20 years later, she has now completed her Zero Balancing training.

To mark the launch, Jamie is offering sessions at an introductory price of £10 on Thursday 12 November here at Hands-on Health.

If you're curious to experience it for yourself, contact 01395 224207 for more information.

A little behind-the-scenes maintenance at Hands-on Health this week.

Our treatment couches get a lot of use, so we have them routinely serviced to keep everything working smoothly and comfortably for both our therapists and patients.

This week, an engineer from Seal Calibration was in to service one of our hydraulic couches, checking the mechanical and hydraulic systems and carrying out a load test up to 180kg.

It may not be the most exciting job in the clinic, but keeping the equipment we rely on properly maintained is part of providing a safe, comfortable environment for treatment.

And thankfully, unlike the scaffolding outside, this bit of maintenance was completed without making too much of a spectacle! 🙂

It seems we've entered the season for maintenance here on Victoria Road.

With even more scaffolding going up, the whole street is beginning to look like a building site 😄

If you think you might need a little maintenance yourself, you'll find the inside of Hands-on Health is as calm as ever, and our health and fitness team is here to help and advise.

You can book in person, by phone or online, and we offer free, no-obligation initial consultations to help you decide what might be right for you.

What do people love about Yoga And Well-being With Anna

We could tell you about Anna’s friendly, inclusive classes, but we thought her clients could say it better.

“Anna has shown me that yoga is more than movement. It really has improved my wellbeing.”

And from another long-standing client:

“Anna has kept this 77yr old flexible and fit ever since I started going to her classes.”

Anna teaches four different yoga classes each week here at Hands-on Health, with variations to suit different abilities and a warm, non-competitive atmosphere.

Exmouth is lucky to have her!

You can contact Yoga And Well-being With Anna directly.

Hands-on Health has been part of the Exmouth community for over 15 years, bringing together a range of experienced practitioners under one roof.

Our core team provides massage, chiropractic, physiotherapy, acupuncture and osteopathy, alongside our small-group and one-to-one TRX training. We also provide space for independent practitioners offering other therapies, wellbeing services and classes.

For us, being established locally isn't just about the number of years we've been here. It's about building a place where people can find professional care, practical support and a range of ways to look after their health and wellbeing.

We're proud to be part of the Exmouth community, and to still be here after more than 15 years.

When Neil first started seeing Albie in January, he was running four times a week and preparing for a major cycling challenge in France.

As his training became more demanding, his massage appointments increased too - initially monthly, then fortnightly and eventually weekly in the run-up to the event.

The goal was simple: support recovery, keep an eye on areas that were becoming tight or niggly, and help him maintain his training.

By the peak weeks, Neil was cycling around 14 hours a week.

Then came the challenge itself: five days cycling through the French Alps, covering 70–80km and around 1,500m of ascent every day.

The group tackled some of the iconic climbs of the Tour de France, including Alpe d’Huez, the Galibier, the Madeleine and Col de Télégraph — all during a particularly hot spell in France.

Neil says: "The strategy must have worked because I was injury-free in the run up to the trip, and during the trip itself."

He also found that regular treatment helped him keep pace as his training volume increased, particularly when his calves and hamstrings became tight.

Now back home, Neil has booked another block of regular treatments as he continues his cycling and running training.

His next challenge? The Wye Valley Sportive later this month, followed by a return to triathlon in 2027.

For Neil, regular massage is now part of how he supports his training and stays active: "A friendly, responsive service that supports me in continuing to be active and tackling sporting challenges, and helps with both injury prevention and injury rehab."

Thanks to Neil for sharing his experience - and for the fantastic photo!

With Neil’s permission, we’re sharing his experience as an example of how regular treatment can form part of an individual training programme.

TRX training is one of the things we do differently at Hands-on Health.

Our small-group and one-to-one sessions use suspension training to develop strength, stability, balance and control, with exercises adapted to the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Keeping groups small means our instructor can pay attention to technique and progress, and make adjustments where needed.

We’re fortunate that our TRX sessions are very popular, with limited availability - but we still like to show you what goes on behind the scenes and the progress our clients make.

It’s another example of our approach at Hands-on Health: professional, individualised care that helps you get stronger and stay active.

We're pleased to be supporting a local cause this September.

We've donated two Hands-on Health vouchers to the raffle at the annual Vine Orchards Summer Ball on 12 September, which this year is raising money for Exmouth Friends in Need (EFIN).

EFIN is the local community group providing practical support to people experiencing short-term financial hardship in Exmouth and the surrounding area — from emergency food and household essentials to help with utilities and work-related travel.

Our raffle prizes are:
Me Time — a 30-minute back massage followed by a 30-minute foot massage
Osteopathy — a one-hour assessment, diagnosis and treatment

We're very happy to play a small part in supporting the work EFIN does in our local community, and we're grateful to Vine Orchards for bringing local businesses and charities together through their annual Summer Ball.
