Lanarkshire/Glasgow - Remedial massage incl. ScarWork, Pregnancy/Postnatal. Book via website Specialised C-section recovery treatment also available.

As a remedial massage therapist, I work with you to help alleviate the aches and pains that are sustained during everyday life. Whether you are an office worker, keen runner, pregnant, a new mum or dad, or simply dealing with stress, the principles are the same. A consultation and assessment enables me to look at the bigger picture, ascertaining the cause of the tension, which is very often not the site of pain, and allows me to use a variety of techniques, from massage, to ScarWork therapy, and visceral manipulation to help improve and restore the muscle function and range of movement. I also provide simple advice for post treatment self care, which can help you maintain muscular function. Weekday appointments in Cambuslang - easy access by train and road. Saturday daytime appointments are available at Grace Health, Orbital Court, EK

“The more we know, the more we realise we don’t know.”

I’ve been a massage therapist for 13 years. In the history of massage, that’s a very short amount of time, and yet it’s amazing to see how much the theory behind massage has changed and evolved since I was studying for my diploma.

A lot of this change has centred around our understanding of how touch influences the body — particularly the balance between mechanical and neurological input. Many of the things we were taught have since been challenged or dispelled as “myths”, especially when it comes to the idea that massage mechanically alters tissues in the ways we once believed.

So, what does this mean for you?

Actually, it probably doesn’t mean that much.

The core ingredients of a massage are still the same, and a good therapist should adapt accordingly — listening to their client and meeting them where they are on that particular day.

Massage isn’t one-size-fits-all (or at least it shouldn’t be), and treatments shouldn’t be entirely protocol-driven. If you have ABC, it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m going to do XYZ in exactly the same way every time.

What it does mean, though, is that massage therapists aren’t medical practitioners (or, if they are, they’re not necessarily working in a medical capacity when they’re providing massage). As a result, we can’t and shouldn't diagnose conditions or give you definitive answers about what is happening in your body.

What I can do is talk to you about what I’m feeling as I assess and carry out your treatment, explain what I’m noticing, and make recommendations where appropriate.

And sometimes, I simply trust that massage will help — even though I, and the rest of the massage world, don’t fully understand all of the ways in which it influences the body.

Perhaps that’s one of the most interesting things about working with the human body: the more we learn, the more we realise there is still so much we don’t know.

Countdown is ON! 3 weeks until the FREE pregnancy and postnatal event in EK village hall. Looking forward to being there and meeting you all :D

If you are pregnant or postnatal this is a must for you! Please spread the word :D

✨ MEET THE EXPERT: SAM ✨

Next up in our FREE Pregnancy, Birth & Postnatal Event on Saturday 3rd October is the brilliant Sam, a remedial massage therapist based in Cambuslang. 💗

Sam’s focus is helping you understand and address the aches, pains and physical discomfort that can come with pregnancy — but her expertise goes far beyond pregnancy massage.

She has a particular interest in pre- and postnatal recovery, C-section rehabilitation and scar work, including abdominal and surgical scars.

And this is exactly why I wanted Sam at this event.

Because birth preparation shouldn’t stop at preparing for the birth you hope to have.

It should also help you understand what happens afterwards — including recovery, rehabilitation and those all-important Plan Bs.

C-sections are a reality for around 2 in 5 singleton births in Scotland, so understanding what recovery can look like doesn’t mean you’re planning for something to go wrong.

It means you’re prepared for whatever birth brings.

And I LOVE that Sam is passionate about helping women learn about postpartum recovery before they have their baby — not when they’re already exhausted, sore and trying to figure it all out.

Come along on Saturday 3rd October, 1–3pm at Village Centre East Kilbride and meet Sam, alongside an amazing line-up of pregnancy, birth and postnatal experts.

🎟️ It’s completely FREE, but you do need to register for your ticket. Get it now from the link in my bio!

Come along, ask questions, discover your local experts and leave feeling more informed and prepared for pregnancy, birth AND beyond.
