Subject: Why some people hate RAPID
Let's be honest about something most therapists won't tell you: not everyone loves RAPID. Some people try it once and never book again. I'd rather say that out loud than pretend otherwise.
Here's the strange part. The things people dislike about RAPID are usually the same things that make it work.
It's intense. RAPID can be uncomfortable. I'm not going to dim the lights and lull you to sleep. Your nervous system has been holding onto a pain pattern, sometimes for years, and a gentle whisper rarely changes its mind. It needs clear, real input to update. That intensity you feel isn't damage. It's the message finally getting through. And no, more pain is never the goal. Uncomfortable and harmful are not the same thing.
It's fast. Most people brace for months of appointments. RAPID often takes far fewer sessions than that. Which, fair enough, can sound too good to be true, right up until you feel a stubborn problem shift in a single visit. I'm not interested in keeping you on a schedule forever. I'm interested in getting you out of pain and back to your life.
It asks you to move. You don't just lie there while I work. I'll have you move during treatment, and that's not me being difficult. Movement is how your nervous system works out what's safe again. Lying still and bracing keeps the old pattern locked in. Moving, with the right input, helps it let go.
It's not relaxing. If you measure RAPID by how soothing it feels, you'll be disappointed, because that's the wrong yardstick. A massage that feels lovely and changes nothing is easy to find. RAPID is built to change your pain, not to be a spa afternoon. Those are two different jobs.
So, is RAPID for everyone? No. If what you want is an hour of quiet pampering, there are better options, and I'll happily point you to them.
But if you've already tried the gentle stuff - the stretches, the rest, the "just give it time" - and your pain is still running the show, RAPID might be exactly the thing you haven't tried yet. The discomfort isn't the price of admission. It's the conversation your nervous system has been waiting to have.
Drop me a message to book an appointment.

Subject: Should treatment be painful?
I recently came across a post that saidā¦
āPsstā¦your massage shouldnāt cause you pain.ā
Honestly, I think this conversation needs a little more nuance.
First, pain and discomfort are not always the same thing.
Sometimes, treatment can feel uncomfortable because your body is sensitive, tight, irritated, or protective. That doesnāt automatically mean something harmful is happening.
Think about things like exercise, stretching, getting a tattoo, or even deep pressure on a sore muscle. Those experiences can feel intense or uncomfortable, but they are not necessarily dangerous.
Our bodies often work through a simple processā¦
Challenge ā Adapt ā Recover
A good treatment sometimes gently challenges the system so the body can relax, adapt, and move better afterward.
That said, more discomfort does NOT mean better results.
Thereās a big difference between
⢠tolerable therapeutic discomfort
and
⢠feeling unsafe, overwhelmed, or flared up afterward
Good treatment should feel controlled, respectful, and within your tolerance.
The goal is never āpain for painās sake.ā
The goal is helping you move better, feel better, and create positive change afterward. :)
Though sometimes it may not seem like it š I am always looking to return your brain to safety.
Have a great day.
