✨ A little update to our nail art structure ✨
I’ve made a few changes to how nail art is booked.
The new structure is based more around the time and detail involved. This means the tiers are a better reflection of how long different designs take, while still keeping things fair and realistic for both you and me.
You’ll now be able to choose the nail art tier that best suits the design you have in mind when booking. If you’re unsure which tier your design falls into, just send me a picture and i can help.
One important thing to please keep in mind:
If you have nail art booked and decide closer to your appointment that you’d rather have a plain colour, please let me know and cancel the nail art from your booking.
When nail art is booked, that extra time is specifically blocked out for you. If it’s no longer needed, I may be able to use that time to fit another client in, so giving me notice really does make a difference.
Thank you as always for understanding and for supporting my little business.

This morning I read a post from a hairdresser explaining how he had to cancel some clients last minute due to an unexpected emergency.
He explained that he hadn’t had a sick day in years and hadn’t had a holiday in six years, which really shows the commitment he has to his work.
Despite this, when he was forced to cancel, some clients questioned him so much that they actually went as far as texting his colleagues to ask whether he was lying. 🤯
Understandably, he made the decision that those clients wouldn’t be able to book with him again.
It really made me think about how differently people can respond when something completely outside of your control happens.
Because this morning, my lovely client Sue dropped these off at my door. 🥹
Yesterday she messaged me to say she was sorry to hear I wasn’t well and that she was going to drop me off some Plenish ginger this morning to hopefully help me feel a little better.
I honestly don’t know what I did in life to deserve clients like Sue, and clients like all of you, but I really do count my lucky stars.
And actually, it made me want to explain a little bit about what being self employed can feel like when you’re poorly.
I’m not saying this because I’ve never experienced difficult clients myself. I absolutely have. In fact, only last week I had an experience where someone was unnecessarily rude, and naturally, they won’t be returning to my salon either.
But thankfully, those experiences are far outweighed by the kindness and understanding I receive from the majority of my clients.
I think there’s something people sometimes forget about being self employed, particularly when your business is completely hands on and client facing.
Being unwell isn’t simply a case of taking a sick day and getting paid anyway.
If I’m off for a week, that’s a week’s worth of income I’ve lost. Income that pays my bills and allows me to live. It also means a week’s worth of clients that I now have to try and fit back into an already busy diary when I’m well enough to return.
So although cancelling an appointment might be inconvenient or disappointing for a client, I promise you it is rarely an easy decision for the person on the other side of it.
I’m sitting here feeling guilty, stressed about my diary, wondering when I’ll feel well enough to go back to work and worrying about letting people down, all while knowing that I have a duty of care to my clients and my colleague not to come into the salon and potentially pass on whatever I have.
If I worked from a laptop, perhaps I could still manage a few things in short bursts. But my job isn’t like that. I’m face to face, hands on, treating people from 9-5, sometimes 9/10-7, five or six days a week.
So, if your hairdresser, beautician, nail technician or any other self employed person ever has to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please remember there is a human being behind that appointment too.
Sometimes life happens. Sometimes we get poorly. Sometimes emergencies happen.
And I can promise you, nine times out of ten, they’re probably feeling far more stressed about letting you down than you are about having your appointment moved.
Your appointment might be important to you, but so is their health.
And ultimately, I think that’s what this is about, kindness and understanding.
Thank you to every single one of my clients who has ever shown me kindness, patience and understanding.
And especially today, thank you Sue. 🥰
It means more than you probably realise.
