It's a struggle for so many people. Many suffer months and even years before it quite literally explodes.

I've been looking through different Hair Groups/Stylists that come up on my feed and it's amazing how they differ between countries. The comments of people asking for help or questioning prices. Some are totally bashing colour choices or prices they've charged.
I don't think some people realise that not each country have the same colour ranges available to them and that perhaps in some countries products cost significantly more or less.
For example, I follow an amazing stylist who is based in the Middle East. I'd never heard of the colour range he uses, his work is incredible and I know that I can't get what he uses over here. His prices are extortionate and I think he literally does 1 colour client a day and charges within the region of £1000. He splashes his toners on at the basin, literally a couple of bowls thrown onto the hair of different shades, my first thought is OMFG look at all that product wastage quite literally going down the drain 😳

I also know that some of what I see on pictures of hair have been altered or even created by photoshop and ai. It's difficult as a stylist to explain and prove to clients that sometimes their inspiration pictures are not even real in the first place, so to get something similar is actually a huge win for us as a stylist! 😄 Similarly if a client brings a picture of their hair from a few years ago, from a different salon, using different colour ranges, we can only do our best with what we have and with what the current state the hair is at now.

Jeez, I know it's a bit of a rant, but there's a whole Science behind what we do. I love my job so much and am so lucky to be at the stage in my life and career that my knowledge is able to be shown on my clients hair and their happy faces and their returning visits ❤️

Just reposting. This kind of explains hair lightening on NATURAL hair with no previous colour. It shows how when a client is naturally very dark and wants to be lighter or blonde, all the colour tones it has to break through before even getting to what you want.
So now imagine someone who's got a dark colour over their natural hair. Not only are we having to deal with regular lightening process, we're also having to break through layers of darker added unnatural colour. It's a HUGE thing to do and as a stylist I'm going to do what's right for the hair and what's required to achieve as much as possible without compromising the quality and condition of your hair.
I know I wouldn't want my hair pushed past it's limitations and get damaged hair, so I'm sure you wouldn't either.
I'll always be honest with you when it comes to your hair.
I always need honesty from my clients too about their 'hair history' especially on long hair, I need to know how many times you or someone else has coloured your hair, what colours they've been, and yes, I mean a couple of years history for you long hair ladies!! It means I can do test strands with colour on your hair so I can see how it'll lift before I consider lightening it. A test strand will tell me a big story about your hair and whether it's safe to proceed and keep the integrity of your hair ✨️

All of my blondes say they lift warm. Well let me fill you with some info so your not frustrated with your hair or stylist.
1️⃣Every brunette in this world was born with red/orange pigment in their hair!
2️⃣Every blonde is born with yellow/orange in their hair!
3️⃣Every level of hair has natural warm pigments. All of them are WARM. No one on this earth is born with ash pigments. Yes you can be a ash blonde but get lightner near it and it will expose that natural warm pigment.
4️⃣There are 10 levels of hair color. Black is level 1-platinum is level 10. If I put lightener on a level 1 and we watch that hair lift...you would literally see the natural warm pigments like the chart above. You would watch the hair go from red, red/orange,orange yellow/orange,yellow and pale yellow.
5️⃣stylist use a gloss/toner to help neutralize these tones. Gloss isn’t permanent color. So when it fades you will start to see your natural warmth. So at home care is super important in helping fight your natural warmth. Blue and purple shampoo. Blue and purple hair mask. Low heat for styling. Heat protectors. Hard water will mess up hair color. You can buy a nozzle attachment for your shower to remove hard water.
6️⃣Generally a session of lightening will get you 3-5 levels of lift if it’s done without pushing the hair. So say you start at a level 3. You lift to a 7. Look above at the chart and that is really brassy. If you come in at a level 5 and lift to a level 8, that raw lift is still pretty dang gold. The raw lift is ALWAYS WARM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
