That’s one of the things we love about smaller tattoos — there really isn’t one type of person, style or reason behind them. Some have a whole story attached. Some mark a person, a memory or a moment. And sometimes the entire explanation is simply:

“I like it and I want it tattooed.”

Which, to be fair, is a perfectly good reason. 😂

A cover-up isn't just putting a darker tattoo over an old one. 🖤

You're not starting with a blank canvas. You're working with what's already there — the shape, placement, darkness and the way the old tattoo sits on the body.

A good cover-up needs proper planning.

The design has to work with the existing tattoo, using darker areas, shading and composition strategically so the old piece disappears into something completely new.

And sometimes that means more than one session. Sometimes we'll recommend changing the original idea. Occasionally, lightening parts of the old tattoo first will give you a much better result.

We'd rather tell you what's realistically possible than promise something that simply won't work.

But sometimes… one session is all it takes. 👀

One appointment later, it had been completely incorporated into this black & grey rose. 🌹

No random dark blob thrown over the top.
No “that'll do.”

Sometimes the smallest tattoo asks for the biggest decision.

This piece was created for Jessie, and while it looks light and effortless, getting there meant making a series of careful design choices.

The long, flowing line wasn't there simply to connect elements. It was there to create movement. Instead of keeping everything compact, we let the design breathe and follow the natural direction of the forearm. That little bit of empty space is just as important as the ink itself.
The colour was treated the same way. Rather than filling every part of the design, it stays soft and loose, allowing the linework to remain the structure while the watercolour adds energy instead of competing for attention.

Good tattoo design isn't about adding more.
It's about knowing what to leave out.

Holly came to us with a floral tattoo on her hand that she'd had for a few years. This time, she wanted to extend it into a larger piece that would flow naturally across her forearm.

Rather than creating something completely separate, Maggie designed the new elements to work seamlessly with the existing tattoo. The goal wasn't to cover or replace the original—it was to enhance it, creating a piece that feels as though it was always meant to be one design.

Some of the best tattoos evolve over time. You don't always need to start from scratch. With the right design, an existing tattoo can become the foundation for something even more beautiful.

Your first tattoo doesn't have to be small. It just has to feel right! 🫶

When our client turned 18, she knew exactly what she wanted for her first tattoo. A sleeping tiger, surrounded by soft ornamental clouds, carefully placed across the collarbone. It's a bold placement for a first piece, but the design itself stays delicate, balanced and elegant.

We love tattoos like this because they prove that "big" doesn't have to mean heavy. With the right composition, fine lines and plenty of breathing space, a larger tattoo can still feel soft and timeless.

Another day of the heatwave... and somehow Kathleen and Louise still decided it was the perfect day to get tattooed. Safe to say they're either incredibly brave or completely heatproof. 😂☀️

They have been friends for 27 years, so they wanted something that felt personal to both of them.
As fellow Pisces, they chose two colourful fish surrounded by the Pisces constellation. Each picked her own colours, making every tattoo unique while keeping the idea connected. Our favourite detail? Put their arms together and the fish swim in opposite directions, just like the Pisces symbol. 🐟✨

To make it even more fun, Karo and Maggie tattooed them at the same time, so they got to share the whole experience together from the first stencil to the final photo. Matching tattoos don't have to be identical. Sometimes they're even better when they tell one story from two different perspectives.

Joe sat through this full rib piece on one of the hottest days we've had in this summertime. Let's just say... there were plenty of comments about the heat, a few moments of questioning life choices, and a lot of determination from both sides. 😅🫣🥵
