Please read below a post of a colleague, I could not have said it better..

In these last months of really hot weather I had quite a few elderly cancelling because they could not leave their house.. on top I had people cancelling on short notice ( barely inside my cancellation terms of 48 hrs or less) because of 'short notice holiday bookings', 'forgotten golf tournament booking' , 'invitation to a party' and other reasons... without re-booking soon, leaving me without scheduled income.

Yet had also from some same people "emergency" calls asking for same or next day treatment as they were suddenly in pain ,as not stuck with preventative treatments that have helped them avoid typical hotspots due to lifestyle or work in the past.
I even had someone asking me if I couldn't book them into my lunch hour.. which made me very sad that someone would so disrespect me and abuse my helpfulness and skills. I am a person, not a machine.

Loyalty and care works both ways.

I hope the weather will change soon and normalise temperatures and people.

A gentle reminder that behind every self-employed business is a real person.
There is no admin team taking bookings, sending reminders or stepping in if I become unwell or can't work. This is my livelihood. I have bills to pay and food to put on the table, just like everyone else.
My cancellation policy is in place to protect both my time and my income. Every appointment is reserved exclusively for you, meaning that time is no longer available for someone else to book.
When an appointment is cancelled at short notice or missed altogether, I often don't have enough time to fill that space. As a small business, I simply cannot absorb that loss, nor should I be expected to.
Please remember that behind every small business is someone who genuinely cares about their clients and loves what they do.
Most of us didn't choose this work because we wanted to run a business. We chose it because we are caring, intuitive and compassionate people who want to help others feel their best.
Policies are rarely created without reason. More often than not, they exist because experience has shown they are necessary. They are not personal, nor are they intended to be unkind. They are there to protect the business and ensure everyone is treated fairly.
As a small business owner, I understand that cancellation policies can sometimes feel strict, and that is never my intention. They simply allow me to continue doing the work I love and to be here for you when you need me.
When large companies enforce their policies, whether it's a concert ticket, a flight or a hotel booking, it's generally accepted. Small businesses deserve that same understanding and respect.
Thank you for respecting my cancellation policy and for supporting a small business. Your understanding means more than you know.

My year has been turbulent and some of you know reasons why I was a bit upset by some VERY few not so nice clients this year. (In 13 years of business I never had deceitful clients.. but I heard that this year was a particularly difficult year in various industries with customers..)
But I am SO grateful for the fantastic majority of clients who have supported me and reminded me why I love my job helping people get out of pain, helping to support them for sports competitions, help staying mobile when bodies start getting "cranky" and building up others when going through stressful times or events... and telling me that i am good at what i do! You have been amazing, thank you!

And thank you all for putting your trust in me. I will always try to go the extra mile if you need my help.

I look a bit tired on this photo and the last few days running up to Christmas have been extremely busy and I have worked long hours.
But as with most of you, I shall put my feet up and enjoy some peace.
