For you professionals (and clients that wanna read to make sure they don’t get in my bad books🤣)… BAD CLIENTS! 😩

Is there some sort of forum, group chat, page or group for us professionals who sadly have to deal with bad clients?
I’m talking about the people who don’t pay, take weeks to pay, completely ignore your terms and conditions, think cancellation fees somehow don’t apply to them, and then, when you politely ask for the money… block you. 🙃

I’m getting sick to death of all the admin involved in chasing people for money, chasing cancellation fees, only to then be ignored or blocked. It’s not fair. This is my livelihood. I have bills to pay, just like everyone else!

It is not my fault you “forgot” about the appointment, don’t have transport to get to your yard, moved yards and forgot to give me the new address, or that it’s raining and your horse doesn’t like the rain. These are just a few of the excuses I’ve had recently… although, unfortunately, not the rain one recently!😢😢

I am very considerate and flexible with my clients, probably to the point where I’m now being taken the p*** out of. I don’t want to start taking deposits because, frankly, I can’t be arsed with even more admin. 😂

I’ve also looked into an app that automatically reminds clients about their appointments, but I’m trying to keep my costs down. I could message everyone before their appointment, which I do try to do the night before or a couple of days beforehand, but even then I still get people saying they’ve forgotten, they’ve got the kids, they’re working, they’ve made other plans… 🤦‍♀️

Another thing is people who just hop from practitioner to practitioner once they start owing money to one. 🤣 With a group chat or something, we could at least warn each other about non-payers, serial late payers, or generally problematic clients before we get caught out ourselves. It would basically be a way of looking out for each other and sharing information where appropriate.

I have always had a passion for riding since I was 2 years old and that passion has now enabled me to do my dream job, Freelancing. I have been a freelance rider/groom since November 2024 and I have loved every second of it. I love helping owners and their horses and training young ponies.

I have had manny for 8 years and we have competed in many disciplines together, even qualifying for national championships in arena eventing, and eventing.
Over the last few years we have competed in working hunter up to county show level successfully, however this year we thought we would give the flat m&m classes a go. We compete through the nps in the open classes and have qualified for both the winter and summer championships.

I have had Malibu 4 years, we have competed in showjumping and hunter trials often with my mum and manny following behind. He is a good doer in all ways and loves the happy hacker life as he has gotten older. I am aiming to pop him in an m&m intermediate class this summer to see how he likes it as he is a really lovely stamp of a Connemara.”

“I’m a 17-year-old British showjumper based in Essex. Coming from a non-horsey family, I’ve worked hard to progress in the sport since getting my first horse at 13. I currently compete up to 1.20m BS and am looking forward to moving up the levels soon.

I’m lucky to have four amazing horses:

Harley – a 9-year-old Warmblood who has jumped up to 1.45m and is helping me gain experience at bigger tracks.

Nancy – a talented 5-year-old Warmblood who started her jumping career this year after unexpectedly having a foal, and is already showing lots of promise.

Lucifer – a 5-year-old stallion imported from Hungary last year. We’re currently building his fitness and education, and he’s proving to be a very exciting prospect.

Vegas – a 3-year-old and Nancy’s full brother, who has recently started his journey towards being backed later this year.
