A fleeting trip to Sainsburys last week brought me face to face with “Christmas cards and the dreaded Christmas jumpers”!!
Shock horror – but I am seriously not ready for this as yet.
Please can we get through Halloween and Bonfire night first!
Sadly, whilst these two events are great fun for many they also bring moments of horror for many others – creating huge anxiety.
Do you own animals that fear, the bangs – dogs, cats or horses?
Or maybe the fireworks are difficult for you to manage – some PTSD sufferers find them really hard to deal with – as you can imagine.
The noise created by the huge bangs of the fireworks can bring back memories for many who have been in the forces and experienced conflict abroad – all of which can be the onset for numerous problems.
With animals the fireworks too present a different set of problems – it is the fact that they are so sudden – with thunderstorms the air pressure changes and they can sense the change in the weather. With fireworks not so!!
I have experienced first hand the terror in both dogs and horses, and they can be difficult situations to handle.
I am talking about this now because this year could be bring a change of thought to you – the Bach Flower Remedies have been proven to help animals with the fear of fireworks and also for anyone with PTSD again we can work through the remedies to help ease the PTSD memories and relieve the trauma.
We also need to think about the children with ADHD some of whom also find fireworks very difficult to manage easily.
If you would be interested in looking further, please give me a shout as soon as you are able to give the remedies a chance to work.

The Crisis Healer – Rescue Remedy
A little brown bottle in a bright yellow box that has provided a beautiful therapy and relaxing mind for so many people.
This was developed in the 1930’s is ideal for those times when we are shaken by events, a fall, a car accident, an argument or a temper tantrum. It is a very effective first-aid remedy and can bring back to feeling balanced and in control.
Rescue remedy is a blend of the following flower essences:-
🌱 Rock Rose: Stay courageous. The positive potential of Rock Rose is courage and presence of mind.
🌱 Impatiens: Stay patient. The positive potential of Impatiens is less hastiness in thought and action.
🌱 Clematis: Stay engaged. The positive potential of Clematis is a clear head and totally focussed on the job in hand.
🌱 Star of Bethlehem: Stay strong. The positive potential of Star of Bethlehem is being strong and relief from trauma
🌱 Cherry Plum: Stay in control. The positive potential of Cherry Plum is serenity and the ability to think and act rationally.
The above combination covers all of the emotions that can take us over in a crisis, and the effect of taking this remedy in whatever format you have is utterly amazing.

Testimonial Thursday
❤A few weeks I had a conversation with a prominent lady in the world of sport, she had no previous experience of the Bach Flower Remedies.
She had been taking the remedies for a mere 10 days and while she was away on holiday, I received this email from her on her return.
"Well, I must say, I’ve religiously taken my magic potion plus a couple of squirts of rescue remedy and I feel like it is making a huge difference.
Mum and I had a lovely trip away and I can honestly say I found depths of patience, kindness and compassion that I didn’t know I had!! Usually I would have got really wound up by the very very slow pace of walking, poor Mum hanging onto my arm, the fact that she takes forever to get ready even when she knows that we had planned to leave at a certain time etc BUT I found myself waiting patiently, gently cajoled, got her to hurry up but in a nice kind way (rather than with a bit of an ‘edge’ where my patience was wearing thin!).
And we had an 8 hour journey home in traffic, I managed to juggle a load of work challenges that were happening whilst I was away and still smile!‼
AND I got my period on Friday evening and I didn’t seem to have any PMT symptoms apart from some night sweats which are normal anyway.
So all in all a success!"
Receiving this acknowledgement as to how the remedies have helped a client is simply wonderful.
Thank you Dr Bach for the amazing Bach Flower Remedies.

Do you ever have days when you would rather be left alone?
Feeling antisocial and generally disgruntled with the world – we all have days like this at times but sadly there are some people who for one reason or another find this a way of life.
When Dr Bach put the remedies together, he didn’t just look at the traumatic side of life but also modes of life that could create sadness amongst people.
He divided the remedies into distinct categories to make it easier for practitioners and today I want to look at the Loneliness category.
There are sadly people around us all the time who can probably relate to the remedies in this group.
🌿The first remedy is Heather – this actually is for the person who NEEDs people but to the point of desperation – who cannot bear to be without someone and talk constantly about themselves – it makes other people quite intolerant. However, the remedy enables the sufferer to look at the world in a different light – to be become empathetic and learn to listen to others. If you know someone who could use this then this is the remedy to try.
🌿Next is Impatiens – those who are impatient and frustrated by the fact that people don’t act quickly enough, don’t learn fast enough – and as a result often end up working alone and being alone – this remedy helps to create a sense of calmness, patience and gentle understanding.
🌿The last remedy in this group is Water Violet – for the quiet capable and self-reliant person – they keep themselves to themselves, but this is often unintentional – sometimes it is out of pure shyness – the Water Violet remedy can enable them to create amazing connections and find real happiness.
If you happen to recognise these characteristics in anyone of your colleagues or friends – you could always treat them a bottle of one of these which will definitely help them to feel better – or better still have a chat with me and I am always happy to help.

We are due to go on holiday soon, our first proper holiday in 18 months - the chance to stay in a hotel - and be properly looked after.
I do have to say I cannot wait, usually it's Airbnb or dog sitting but this time - it's a total rest. I have packed 2 books and I intent to read both of them.
No cooking, no shopping, no beds to make - someone else can worry about that!
I am really good at telling everyone elseto set boundaries and say no, however I am probably the woI will orst person to follow that practice.
The nature of being a therapist is that I am always helping people and that need to help people regardless of who or what never subsides.
It also holds true that this characteristic is hard to change and it runs through our system and is part of our make up.
When I worked in the corporate world I was trained that customer service was of utmost importance, if a client asked if we could jump " we replied how high!" However that response is ok until it is expected all of the time.
So this time whilst I will have an eye on my phone and emails I will only be responding in case of emergency.

⁉️ In a hope to raise awareness - if you are navigating a natural menopause or your loved one is affected by this - this may help you - this is my journey - which was at times horrific! ❓
Menopause is finally a less taboo subject now, yet many women still suffer in silence. The pandemic, with its shortage of HRT products, pushed many women to explore natural ways to manage symptoms. I was forced to find a natural solution but my journey started 35 years ago.
I started my menopause at just 33 due to emergency surgery following years of gynae problems. Back then, HRT was the go-to solution, and I took it without question.
I felt amazing - until six months later when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had to stop the HRT immediately and found myself falling off a cliff with menopause symptoms without guidance or support.
It was a lonely, difficult road, and my family and mental health suffered. I was a single Mum and working full time - an interesting place to be! Actually it was horrific when I think back.
Fast forward to today, and we have so much more knowledge at our fingertips. If you're navigating menopause or preparing for it, I want to share what worked for me - natural remedies that can help you feel more balanced and in control.
‼️ There needs to be a proviso - this does not mean that I am against HRT - I would have taken if I could have done. ‼️
👉🏻 1. Nutrition Matters
Prioritise calcium & vitamin D for bone health.
Eat fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole foods.
Avoid trigger foods like alcohol, spicy dishes, and sugar, which can worsen symptoms.
Maintain a healthy weight—it’s tough but makes a difference.
👉🏻 2. Exercise for Strength & Stability
Walking, yoga, and pilates help maintain bone density and reduce stress.
Weight-bearing exercises support long-term health.
Ask your GP for a bone density scan to stay ahead of osteoporosis risks.
👉🏻 3. Key Supplements for Menopause
Black Cohosh – Helps with hot flushes (but give it time—one month isn’t enough!).
Fish oil – Supports brain health & reduces inflammation.
Linseed & Vitamin D – Essential for bone density & mood balance.
Please check with GP
👉🏻 4. Bach Flower Remedies for Emotional Well-being
Menopause impacts your emotions, too. These Bach remedies were a key part of my journey:
🌱 Walnut – Shields you from emotional overwhelm.
🌱 Impatiens – Helps with frustration & irritability.
🌱 Clematis – Clears brain fog, improving focus.
🌱 Holly – Eases anger & restores inner peace.
🌱 Star of Bethlehem – Helps with early menopause trauma.
🌱 Mimulus – Reduces fear of aging & the unknown.
🌱 Larch – Restores confidence when self-doubt creeps in.
❣️ Your Menopause, and your way
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to menopause. HRT might work for some but not for others. If you’re looking for natural solutions, I’d love to help you explore options that make this transition smoother. ❣️

Twenty four hours late, but here is the story of my two favourite charities meeting together in the beat possible way.
At Sage House Tangmere on Tuesday night we had another of the amazing history talks. These have been beautifully arranged by Lisa H***e and incredibly popular.
This month we had a fabulous talk from Hilary Cunningham who works at Weald & Downland Living Museum.
Such incredible range of information about the museum from the beginning right through to the future - including some surprises for the future.
Aa ever the talk was well attended and very much enjoyed.
An incredible talk for and in aid of an incredible charity.
The two charities that i truly support and love working with, working together for the pleasure and enjoyment of others.

How can a flower remedy help me feel better - a question I am often asked!‼
What can they achieve for me? What do they treat? How can they help me?
For this post I want to explain gently just that – answer some of the questions: -
Let us look first at fear....
🌟They can help to ease fears of many types, fear of the known, unknown, terror, fear of overconcerned for others and fear of loss of control of emotions – let me explain little more.
🌱The fear of the unknown is related to those emotions of dread and fear that you cannot explain, here we use Aspen. Can help children with night terrors.
🌱The fear of the known is very straightforward in many ways – if you can put a name on it – then Mimulus is your answer. Helps with calm and courage and gets rid of the known fear.
🌱Terror – fright or flight mode – we use Rock Rose to ground you and remove the panic. For a calm steadfast feeling.
🌱Some of us are always worried about other - and for this we use Red Chestnut – this is to enable you to put yourself first, think less about others and move about yourself.
🌱The last fear – fear of loss of control of emotions – this is when your feelings are taking over your emotions, you can barely control yourself, afraid of having a nervous breakdown and possibly even considering su***de - here we recommend Cherry Plum.
So these 5 remedies give you an idea as to the uses of the Bach Flower remedies, these are often blended with others to enable the client to benefit from a total balance.
There is no scientific proof for these remedies but there are plenty of people who have them beneficial in many ways.
I hope this answers a few questions for you.

As we approach the end of September - the nights are drawing in slowly, for some this is a time of year that they love, cosy nights by the fire.
For the onset of winter and the long dull days is for many the onset of Seasonal Affective disorder – an illness often referred to as the Winter depression.
It can be recognised by a persistent low mood, a loss of interest in daily activities irritability, feeling of despair and worthlessness, lethargy and a tendency to sleep during the day and also the ability to sleep for longer and finding it very hard to get up in the morning.
The precise cause of Sad is not totally known but it is thought to be related to the lack of sunlight – sunlight helps the hypothalamus to work properly and when the sun is missing various things change within the body.
🌟1. The production of melatonin is far higher and this is the hormone that makes us sleepy.
🌟2. It is also thought that sunlight affects the production of serotonin and in the winter some of us are affected by low levels of serotonin and these can be linked to depression.
🌟3. Finally, there is also a link to our Circadian rhythm – our own body clock – the body uses the sunlight to time various functions throughout the day and so when there are lower light levels it can disturb the circadian rhythms.
If you have struggled with this in the past - and haven't tried the remedies my blog below may help you to understand more about the Bach Flower Remedies
