10 YEARS IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY AND I’VE SEEN SOME THINGS 😭💀

I started my brow journey back in 2016 and honestly, the industry today is a COMPLETELY different world to the one I walked into 10 years ago!!

The products, the techniques, the knowledge, the trends, the RULES we all thought we had to follow 🤣

Some of the things we used to do, believe and just accept as normal are absolutely WILD looking back now.

But that’s also what I love about this industry. We’ve learnt SO much, challenged old ways of thinking and completely changed how we approach treatments.

And I can guarantee in another 10 years we’ll probably be looking back at what we’re doing now thinking WHAT ON EARTH WERE WE DOING?! 😂

A lash shield is SO much more than the curl it creates 👀🎀

The shape of the shield determines the journey those lashes take.

Some allow the lashes to travel forward before they lift, while others bring them into the lift much sooner and that completely changes how the finished result looks.

Then there’s placement 👀 because where you position the lashes on that shield can change that journey again.

So instead of choosing a shield because you like the curl, start asking yourself:

Where will the lashes travel?
When will they start to lift?
Where will they finish?

Once you understand THAT, shield selection starts to make so much more sense 🧠🎀

I genuinely thought accent shields were giving me curl back 👀 Turns out, it wasn’t the shield… it was how I was using it 🤦🏼‍♀️

There were TWO things I needed to change: my pressure AND my shield placement.

Accent shields have such a tiny amount of travel before they begin to elevate. I was placing the shield too snugly into the lash line, then using too much pressure when wrapping, which meant the lashes were essentially being pushed straight into elevation instead of following that tiny travel section first.

Now I position the shield slightly more on top of the lash line, so that little travel section sits over the root of the lashes rather than being tucked right into them.

Then when I wrap, I use much lighter pressure and allow the lashes to naturally hug that tiny section before they begin to elevate.

THAT’S when I started getting the finish I actually wanted from an accent shield 🙌🏼

Same shield. Tiny changes to placement and pressure. Completely different result 🎀

And this is exactly why understanding the shape and pathway of your shield matters just as much as choosing the shield itself 👀

She asked me to make them THIN and I genuinely thought… please don’t do this to me 😭😂

For years she’s been my BIG, DARK, BUSHY brow girl. The kind of client where taking one extra hair off felt illegal 😂

Then suddenly she wanted 90s skinny brows ✂️

Did I prefer her big fluffy brows? Absolutely 😂
Did I tell her that? Also absolutely.

But ultimately, they’re her brows, not mine.

My job is to give my professional opinion, make sure she understands what we’re changing, then create what SHE actually wants safely.

And you know what? She bloody loved them 💗

I still want the big brows back though x 😂
