FACT: ❌ Not at all.

Choosing an aesthetic treatment is a personal decision. For some people, it’s about addressing something they’ve always felt self-conscious about. For others, it’s simply about maintaining or enhancing something they already love.

There doesn’t have to be a particular reason - it’s your face, your body, and your choice.

Vulval anatomy naturally varies hugely between women - in size, shape, symmetry and appearance. There isn’t one “correct” way for your l***a to look.

So when might l***aplasty be something to consider?

Not because your anatomy is “wrong”.

But if it is causing you 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, it’s completely valid to want to explore your options.

Let’s talk about some common misconceptions around l***aplasty…

𝗠𝗬𝗧𝗛: 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 ‘𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹’ 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗮 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝘃𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸.

FACT: ❌ There isn’t.

Vulvas naturally vary considerably in size, shape, symmetry and colour. The l***a minora can extend beyond the l***a majora, and asymmetry is also common. There is no single “correct” appearance.

𝗠𝗬𝗧𝗛: 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

FACT: ❌ Not necessarily.

Some women consider l***aplasty because of physical symptoms such as discomfort or irritation during activities, while others are concerned about appearance. Symptoms can include discomfort during exercise or interference with sexual activity.

𝗠𝗬𝗧𝗛: 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗯𝗶𝗴.

FACT: ❌ Visible l***a can be completely normal.

Form-fitting clothing can make the l***a more noticeable, but visibility does not mean there is anything medically wrong with your anatomy. Normal v***al anatomy varies enormously between women.

𝗠𝗬𝗧𝗛 𝟰: 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝘅 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

FACT: ❌ There are no guarantees.

Labiaplasty may be considered where l***al anatomy is causing specific physical problems, but evidence does not support promising that cosmetic ge***al surgery will automatically improve sexual satisfaction or libido.
