IH Soft Tissue provides Sports Massage and other soft Tissue Therapies to Cambridge and Surrounding areas. IH Soft Tissue Therapy is the next chapter in the story, it was born from the desire to create a place for my lovely clients to continue their amazing progress we'd achieved together over the years. The foundation of the clinic is built around a collaborative approach where team effort is everything! The support that 'my team' has offered me to get IH Soft Tissue off the ground has been everything and I'm excited to share this chapter with you!! IH Soft Tissue Therapy is more than just sports massage, each session focuses on you and your goals helping you to move freely without pain. The sessions may involve sports massage, dry needling, dry cupping or a hands off approach may be our best course of action!! Either way this is discussed with you and reviewed at every step along the way to ensure a team effort to reach your goals!

💆‍♂️🔋 Active Recovery vs. Passive Recovery: Which does your body actually need this weekend?

When we are exhausted at the end of a long week, our default is passive recovery—sitting on the sofa watching a movie. While mental rest is vital, completely stopping movement can actually cause tight, sore muscles to stiffen up even further.

Active recovery—like a gentle, low-intensity walk around the Histon fens, light mobility flow, or a targeted soft tissue treatment—keeps the blood circulating, delivers fresh oxygen to tired tissues, and accelerates true healing.

Give your body the correct fuel this weekend. If you need professional, clinical help to unlock a stubborn joint restriction, my booking calendar for October is officially open.

🍂 As September closes, how is your body coping with the changing season?

The sudden drop in temperature combined with shorter days tends to make us naturally hunker down, move slightly less, and carry more physical tension in our shoulders to shield against the chill.

If you've noticed an old lower back ache creeping back, or your neck feeling unusually stiff this week, it's a completely normal response to seasonal shifts. But you don't have to live with it.

Book a dedicated 60-minute session with IH Soft Tissue Therapy to restore circulation, melt away that cold-weather tension, and move comfortably into October.

🖥️ The 2-Minute Desk Rule to stop shoulder pain before it starts.

When we get focused on deep work at our computers, we forget to move. Our nervous system notices this lack of movement and begins to "set" our tissues like wet cement, causing that deep ache between your shoulder blades by 4 PM.

Your Friday challenge: Set a timer on your computer for every 60 minutes. When it goes off, spend just 60 seconds doing gentle shoulder rolls and pulling your chin straight back (chin tucks) to decompress the base of your skull.

Small, consistent movements protect your posture far better than one aggressive stretch at the end of the day. For bigger structural restrictions, let's work on them hands-on.

🏃‍♂️🍂 Training for an autumn race or half marathon around Cambridgeshire?

As the weather cools down, local running season heats up. But as you hit peak mileage in your training blocks, your connective tissues and joints take a massive repetitive pounding.

Tight calves, plantar fascia aches, and IT band friction aren't just things you have to push through. They are signs that your soft tissues are struggling to recover between runs.

Regular remedial maintenance flushes out metabolic waste, restores sliding mechanics to your fascia, and keeps you on the track instead of the injury bench.

✍️ On the Blog: Why stretching a tight muscle might be making it worse.

When a muscle feels tight (like your hamstrings or upper traps), our immediate instinct is to stretch it as hard as we can. But did you know that tightness is often a muscle's protective response to being overstretched or weak already?

If you keep pulling on a muscle that is already under high strain, your nervous system will just clamp it down tighter to protect the joint.

I’ve broken down the deep science of "protective tension" and what you should actually do instead in our latest blog post. Head over to our website to read the full article!

👋 Thinking about booking your first session at IH Soft Tissue Therapy?

If you’ve never had a clinical soft tissue or remedial massage session before, you might wonder what makes it different from a relaxing spa treatment.

In my independent Histon clinic room, we don't do cookie-cutter routines.
Your first session includes:
1️⃣ A Biomechanical Consultation: We talk about your lifestyle, job, and movement goals.
2️⃣ A Movement Assessment: We pin down exactly why a muscle group is tight or aching.
3️⃣ Bespoke Hands-On Therapy: Using sports massage, trigger point, and fascial release tailored precisely to you.

You don't need to be an elite athlete to get out of pain. Everyone is welcome.
