‘Splitting the calves’ 😬 ❌
A necessary evil unfortunately…
If you’ve ever had your calves worked on, you’ll know the relief after is unbelievable. So much tension can be built up in the soleus & gastroc region, which ultimately can lead to problems up the chain… not just acutely to the problem area.
Keep on top of your aches and pains and keep your body healthy 💪✅ don’t wait until a problem comes along…
Lil sneak peak into a full body Deep Tissue Massage session… 👀⚒️✅

👋 A little introduction…
I’m Mike, the face behind Mike Fairclough Massage (MFM).
My approach is simple — I want to help people move better, feel better and keep doing the things they enjoy, whether that’s training, competing, working or simply getting through everyday life without pain holding them back.
I’m passionate about understanding the body, finding out what’s actually going on, and giving people the right treatment and advice to help them move forward ✅
If you’ve been following for a while, thank you for the support — and if you’re new here, welcome 👊

BACK TO SCHOOL. BACK TO WORK. BACK TO ROUTINE. 🙌
September always feels like a bit of a reset.
Kids are back at school, holidays are over, work is back in full swing and we’re all trying to find some sort of routine again.
So, while you’re sorting everyone else out… don’t forget about yourself 🙏🏻
If the summer holidays have left you feeling stiff, sore, tight or just generally in need of a reset.. now’s a good time to get on top of those little niggles before they become bigger ones.
Get yourself booked in and start September on the right foot 💪🏻✅

Things your massage therapist wishes you’d stop doing 😬
❌ Ignoring the same niggle for months
❌ Stretching something over and over because it feels “tight”
❌ Training through pain
❌ Going from sitting all week to absolutely hammering yourself at the weekend
❌ Having one treatment, feeling better… then doing nothing until it comes back 👀
Your body is pretty good at adapting and compensating, until it isn’t.
If something keeps hurting, tightening up or limiting what you can do, it’s worth figuring out why… rather than repeatedly putting a plaster over it.
Look after your body correctly ✅

HEADACHES, MIGRAINES & JAW TENSION?
Your jaw could be playing a bigger part than you think.
The TMJ is the joint connecting your jaw to your skull. The tension in the surrounding muscles is often caused by stress, hard clenching or teeth grinding and can contribute to:
• Headaches & migraines
• Jaw pain, clicking or tightness
• Facial tension
• Neck & shoulder tension
• Teeth grinding/clenching
TMJ release uses targeted soft-tissue techniques around the jaw, face and neck to release tight muscles, reduce tension and improve jaw movement ✅
For some people, addressing this tension can also help reduce the frequency or intensity of associated headaches and migraines.

"I thought it was normal..."
One of the most common things I hear is:
👉 "I've had a tight shoulder for years."
👉 "My lower back always aches after work."
👉 "I just thought it was part of getting older."
The truth?
Pain that keeps coming back isn't something you should just accept.
Whether it's from sitting at a desk, training in the gym, running after the kids, or your job, your body is usually trying to tell you something.
Sports massage isn't just about treating pain, it's about improving movement, reducing tension and helping you get back to doing what you enjoy without constantly feeling stiff or sore.
If you've been putting up with an ache for months (or even years), maybe it's time to stop accepting it as "normal."
