What I’m talking about when I discuss treatments and skincare working at a deeper level 🧬✨

Healthy-looking skin isn’t just about what we can see on the surface.

Underneath sits something called the extracellular matrix (ECM) — think of it as the skin’s internal scaffolding. It’s a complex network surrounding our cells, rich in collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and other important proteins that help give skin its strength, hydration, firmness and elasticity.

As we age, this supportive network gradually changes. Collagen and elastin production slows, hydration reduces and the skin becomes less efficient at repairing and renewing itself.

And this is why I talk so much about skin quality and cellular health, rather than simply treating lines and wrinkles.

Treatments such as microneedling, polynucleotides, amino acid therapy and certain skin boosters are chosen to support the skin’s own regenerative processes and encourage fibroblast activity, collagen production and healthier tissue.

And your home skincare matters too. Good-quality, evidence-based skincare supports the environment we’re trying to create in clinic — which is why what you do between appointments is such an important part of your treatment plan.

Why your aesthetic treatments might not be giving you the results you expected….

You’re investing in microneedling, chemical peels, medi-facials or injectable treatments but what are you doing with your skin at home?

This is where I like to think about the 80/20 rule.

Your daily skincare routine, SPF use and consistency play a huge part in how your skin behaves and how well we can maintain and build on your treatment results.

Think of your in-clinic treatment as the accelerator, but your home skincare as the engine keeping everything moving.

And this is why I recommend professional/medical-grade skincare where appropriate.

It isn’t simply about buying expensive products. It’s about choosing evidence-led formulations with the right active ingredients, at effective concentrations for your skin concern, rather than filling your bathroom cabinet with products that may not be doing very much at all.
