WE DON’T DO RELAXATION MASSAGE.
We treat problems.
At Intulo Health, massage isn’t about candles, hot oils, relaxing music and switching off for an hour.
Our approach is different.
You come to us because something doesn’t feel right. You have pain, restricted movement, recurring tension, an injury, a training issue or something that’s affecting how your body performs.
We assess it.
We work out what may be contributing to it.
We treat it.
And where appropriate, we use rehabilitation, strength and stability work to help address the underlying problem.
Yes, we offer 60–90 minute full-body deep tissue massage for people who want their whole body worked on — but it is still delivered with the Intulo approach.
Deep tissue. Sports massage. Remedial treatment. Rehabilitation.
If you’re looking for a traditional relaxation or spa-style massage, we’re probably not the right clinic for you.
If you want someone to understand your body, find the problem and work towards resolving it, that’s where Intulo comes in.

CHILDREN AREN’T SMALL ADULTS
Young athletes need to be trained for the bodies they have now and the bodies they are still developing.
Sport is incredibly good for children. But when a child trains seriously, we need to remember that their musculoskeletal system is still growing and adapting.
Bones are developing. Muscles and tendons are adapting to rapidly changing limb lengths and training loads.
Coordination, strength and movement control are developing too.
During growth spurts especially, training load, recovery and movement quality matter. Repetitive loading without enough recovery can contribute to overuse injuries.
And different sports create different demands.
Young footballers repeatedly sprint, kick, change direction and load the hip. Research in academy footballers has found that high levels of football during skeletal development are associated with development of cam morphology — a change in the shape of the femoral head-neck junction.
Young dancers and gymnasts repeatedly work towards large ranges of motion. Hypermobility is common in dancers, although we should be careful about saying ballet causes generalised hypermobility: some children naturally have greater joint mobility and may be drawn towards dance. Research does, however, identify hypermobility, fatigue, overuse and reduced neuromuscular control or strength among relevant considerations in dancers.
That’s why we shouldn’t simply keep stretching a young athlete because something feels restricted.
Sometimes what they need is control.
Sometimes they need strength.
Sometimes they need better glute, core or shoulder activation, balance, proprioception and joint stability.
And importantly, appropriately designed resistance training doesn’t stunt children’s growth. With good technique, sensible progression and qualified supervision, children and adolescents can safely become stronger.
MOBILITY WITHOUT CONTROL ISN’T THE GOAL.
Strength + stability + movement control + recovery = a more resilient young athlete.
At Intulo, treating young athletes isn’t simply about working on the area that hurts. It’s about looking at how they move, what their sport demands, how much they’re training and what their developing body needs.
Because we’re not just trying to keep them playing this season.
We’re helping them build a body capable of enjoying sport for years to come.

YOUR PHONE IS CHANGING YOUR POSTURE
Think about how many times a day you look down at your phone.
Head drops forward. Chin moves towards the chest. Shoulders round. Upper back flexes.
Do it for a few minutes — no problem.
Do it repeatedly for hours, every day, and your body gets very good at adapting to the position you continually put it in.
Forward-head posture can increase the demand on the muscles at the back of the neck and upper shoulders, while prolonged positioning can contribute to neck and shoulder tension, headaches, reduced upper-back mobility and altered shoulder mechanics.
But the answer isn’t simply “sit up straight.”
We need movement.
Bring the phone up towards eye level. Change position regularly. Move the thoracic spine. Strengthen the deep neck and upper-back muscles. Build shoulder-blade control. And give your body regular breaks from the position that’s creating the demand.
At Intulo, we can use soft-tissue treatment to reduce excessive tension — but then we look at why it’s happening and what needs strengthening to change it.
Your best posture isn’t one perfect position.
It’s your next position.

YOUR BODY IS MORE THAN THE AREA THAT HURTS
Pain, stiffness, fatigue and poor recovery don’t always have one simple cause.
How we feel can be influenced by many interconnected factors, including movement, strength, sleep, stress, nutrition, hormonal changes and underlying health conditions.
At Intulo Health, we believe in looking at the bigger picture.
NUTRITION & INFLAMMATION
Understanding how dietary patterns can influence general health, inflammation, energy and recovery.
JOINT & MUSCLE PAIN
Looking beyond the painful area to consider movement, strength, loading, recovery and other factors that may be contributing to persistent symptoms.
FIBROMYALGIA & PERSISTENT PAIN
A supportive approach to symptom management.
HORMONAL HEALTH
Understanding how hormonal changes, particularly through perimenopause and menopause can affect muscle, bone, energy, sleep and general wellbeing.
BUILDING & MAINTAINING MUSCLE
Strength isn’t just about appearance. Maintaining muscle supports physical function, joint health and healthy ageing.
NUTRITION & SUPPLEMENTATION
Helping you understand protein, micronutrients and supplementation — what’s useful, what may be unnecessary, and when professional medical or nutritional advice is appropriate.
SOFT-TISSUE & REMEDIAL THERAPY
Hands-on treatment to help manage muscular tension, stiffness and movement — while looking beyond the symptoms to understand what else may need addressing.
WE DON’T JUST CHASE THE SYMPTOM.
UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE PICTURE.

💻 DESK JOB? YOUR BODY STILL NEEDS TO MOVE.
Office work may not feel physically demanding, but spending hours in the same position can contribute to stiffness, reduced movement variety and muscular discomfort.
Long periods at a desk can be associated with:
Neck and shoulder tension • Upper and lower back discomfort • Headaches • Tight hips • Reduced thoracic mobility • General stiffness and aching
But the answer isn’t simply to try to maintain a “perfect posture” all day.
Our bodies are designed to move.
Often it’s the lack of movement and prolonged time spent in one position that’s the bigger issue.
As muscles and joints become accustomed to the same positions and movement patterns, you may start noticing stiffness, tension or discomfort — particularly through the neck, shoulders, upper back, lower back and hips.
SO WHERE DOES MASSAGE FIT IN?
Sports and remedial massage, soft-tissue work and fascial techniques can be useful for reducing muscular tension, improving comfortable movement and helping manage aches and stiffness.
But, just like with sporting injuries, treatment shouldn’t necessarily stop at the area that hurts.
We need to look at what’s contributing to it.
How long are you sitting? How often are you moving? Is your workstation comfortable? Are you strong enough through the areas that need to support you? Have certain movements become restricted?
The longer-term approach is often a combination of hands-on treatment, regular movement, mobility and appropriate strengthening.
Treat the tension.
Restore movement.
Build resilience.

⚽ FOOTBALL INJURIES — TREAT THE PAIN, BUT FIND THE CAUSE
Football is a demanding, multi-directional sport.
Sprinting.
Stopping.
Accelerating and decelerating.
Jumping and landing.
Cutting and changing direction.
Kicking, twisting and reacting, often at speed.
And not every football injury happens because of a tackle or obvious trauma.
Many problems develop gradually when the load being placed on a muscle, tendon or joint exceeds its capacity to tolerate that load.
That’s why treating the painful area is only part of the picture.
As a Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist, I use soft-tissue techniques and fascial release to help reduce muscular tension, improve movement and manage overloaded tissues.
But the question I also want answered is:
Why has this happened in the first place?
Is there a strength deficit?
Poor control when decelerating or landing?
Reduced stability?
A sudden increase in training load?
Fatigue?
A previous injury that hasn’t been fully rehabilitated?
Because if we simply make the painful area feel better and send the player straight back to the same demands, we may not have addressed the reason the problem developed.
Good rehabilitation should therefore sit alongside hands-on treatment — rebuilding strength, stability, control and the capacity to tolerate the specific demands of football.
Soft-tissue therapy can be an important part of recovery.
Understanding the cause and getting the right rehabilitation is what helps us work towards keeping you on the pitch.
