From years of lower back pain to feeling stronger, more confident and back doing the things she wants to do. ❤️
When Louise first came to see me, her back had been affecting her for years.
We started with hands-on treatment to help with her symptoms, then gradually introduced strength work alongside the PT sessions she was already doing.
And little by little, things changed. 💪
Louise can now do pretty much everything she wants to in her PT sessions and, most importantly, she feels in control of her back again.
Along the way, recognising her hypermobility has also helped us make sense of things she’d experienced for years and given her a much better understanding of her body.
No magic overnight transformation - just treatment, rehabilitation, understanding and Louise consistently putting the work in.
Seeing how far she’s come has been bloody lovely. ❤️

This is one of those moments that reminds me exactly why I do what I do. ❤️
Last night, as I was leaving work, one of my patients came over, gave me a hug and said:
“I just wanted to say thank you. I was pain-free last night.”
She lives with arthritic back pain, so our goal has never been to pretend we can magically make arthritis disappear. It’s about helping her manage her symptoms, giving her some relief and supporting her to keep doing the things that matter to her.
And sometimes, a pain-free evening is a really bloody big win.
I genuinely thought about that hug all the way home. 🥹
There are lots of things I love about being a Sports Therapist, but knowing that something we’re doing together has made somebody’s day-to-day life that little bit easier will always be one of the biggest.
And that’s my why. ❤️

Why do we wait until something hurts before we decide our body deserves looking after?
We’re incredibly good at accepting stress and busyness as part of normal life.
Busy at work? Normal.
Running around after everybody else? Normal.
Training on top of everything else? Normal.
Feeling like you never really stop? Somehow also normal.
Yet taking an hour out of the week specifically to look after ourselves can feel like something we need to justify.
I’d really like to change the way we talk about Sports Massage at HRH.
Of course there’s a physical side to it. People book because they’re training hard, their muscles feel tired or sore, they’re feeling stiff, or because hands-on treatment simply helps them feel better.
But that doesn’t have to be the whole reason.
For some people, that appointment is also an hour where they’re not working, answering messages, rushing somewhere or looking after somebody else.
They’re simply taking some time to look after themselves.
And I don’t think we should feel guilty about that. ❤️
You don’t need to be injured.
You don’t need to be an athlete.
And you don’t need to wait until your body is screaming at you before you start paying attention to it.
Sports Massage can simply be one part of looking after yourself.

“But what does a Sports Therapist actually help with?”
Probably more than you might think. ❤️
I’ve worked with runners struggling with tendinopathies, people living with osteoarthritis, patients rebuilding after surgery, people with persistent back or shoulder pain, athletes trying to return to sport and people with conditions such as EDS and hypermobility disorders who need support managing their musculoskeletal symptoms and building strength and confidence.
And sometimes it’s nothing complicated at all - something hurts, it’s getting in the way of life, and somebody wants to understand why and what they can do about it.
Sometimes people come to me needing an assessment.
Sometimes they already have a diagnosis but have been left wondering “Okay… so what do I actually do now?”
My role as a Sports Therapist can include assessment, hands-on treatment, education and rehabilitation, all built around the person in front of me and what they want to get back to doing.
And equally importantly, if I assess something that isn’t appropriate for me to manage, I’ll be honest about that and point you towards the right person. Knowing when something isn’t within my scope is just as important as knowing when it is.
Sports Therapy isn’t just for sporty people. And you don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong before you book.
I’m a Sports Therapist - and this is just a little glimpse of what that can actually look like. ❤️

Six months ago, Hazel just wanted to run again. Today, she’s doing exactly that - pain-free. 🏃🏻♀️❤️
When Hazel first came to see me, she’d been struggling with a hamstring tendon problem since December 2025.
She’d done what so many of us would naturally do: rested it, waited and hoped it would settle.
But it didn’t.
Running became increasingly difficult and, for somebody who genuinely loves exercise, losing that part of her life was starting to affect her mentally as well as physically.
I remember being very honest with Hazel at the beginning: this wasn’t going to change overnight.
But we had a plan.
Over the following six months we’ve combined hands-on treatment, including Sports Massage and acupuncture, with progressive, personalised rehabilitation and a gradual return to running.
And I can’t emphasise this bit enough: Hazel has done the work.
Hands-on treatment can be a really useful part of somebody’s care, but rehabilitation is a team effort. What happens between appointments matters too.
We progressed. We adapted. We kept going.
And Hazel is now back running with 0 pain. 🥹🏃🏻♀️
One of the biggest things she’s taken from the experience is not to spend months guessing when something isn’t improving. Getting the right advice early can help you understand what’s going on and what you can actually do about it.
She’s even decided to continue coming in for regular Sports Massage alongside her training - and if something starts niggling, she knows she can bring it up before it becomes a bigger problem.
I’m incredibly proud of you, Hazel. ❤️
This is exactly why I love rehabilitation. It’s not about taking away the things somebody loves. It’s about working together to help them get back to them.

Getting discharged after surgery doesn’t always mean you immediately feel ready to get back to normal life.
You might have been given a few exercises, but still be wondering…
How much should I be doing?
Is this supposed to hurt?
When can I get back to the gym?
How do I actually get my strength back?
This is something Georgie particularly enjoys working with in our Preston clinic. ❤️
Post-operative rehabilitation isn’t just about getting a joint moving again. It’s about gradually rebuilding strength, confidence and capacity for whatever you need your body to do — whether that’s getting through a normal day, returning to work, going back to the gym or eventually returning to sport.
Georgie can assess where you are now and help build a progressive plan towards where you want to be.
No dramatic promises. No rushing through stages. Just good, individual rehabilitation with somebody there to guide you through it.

Georgie is back!! ❤️
And I’m SO glad to have her back in the Preston clinic.
For those who haven’t met Georgie yet, she’s a Graduate Sports Therapist and brings loads of experience to HRH - but rather than just telling you her qualifications, here are some of the people she could be a particularly good fit for…
🏥 Had surgery and wondering what comes next?
Georgie works with post-operative patients, helping gradually rebuild movement, strength and confidence as they work towards getting back to everyday life, work, sport or whatever matters to them.
⚽ Trying to get back to football after an injury?
Georgie has a strong football background and understands the demands of getting back onto the pitch safely and confidently.
🏉 Rugby injury stopping you playing or training properly?
She also has experience within rugby, so understands that rehab needs to prepare you for much more than simply being pain-free.
💪 Or simply dealing with pain or an injury that’s getting in the way?
You absolutely don’t need to be an athlete to see her. Georgie assesses and treats a wide range of musculoskeletal problems too.
She’s kind, knowledgeable and genuinely cares about the people she works with - which is exactly why I love having her as part of HRH. ❤️
Welcome back Georgie! 🥰

Things Sports Therapists do that patients never see… 👀
Writing patient notes and suddenly finding yourself recreating every movement they showed you in the appointment. 😂
👉 “Was it when you lifted it like this?”
👉 “Or was it this movement?”
👉 “No, hang on…”
A lot of clinical reasoning happens after you’ve left the room. Sometimes the notes take longer because we’re trying to make sure we’ve understood exactly what’s going on and how best to help.
I promise there is usually a method behind the madness. 🤣
