Exercises are great for your dog but can often be hard when your dog isn’t a fan of doing them!🐾

Making it more exciting for your dog by incorporating games and treats turns it into a better experience and something they look forward to doing! 🐶

🐴🐶 They’re not being difficult… they’re communicating.

It’s easy to label an animal as “naughty”, “stubborn” or “just being difficult” when they suddenly start behaving differently.

A horse refusing a jump, becoming resistant under saddle, or a dog slowing down on walks or hesitating to jump into the car may be trying to tell us something.

Behaviour is communication. While changes aren’t always caused by pain or discomfort, they’re always worth paying attention to rather than dismissing.

Taking the time to ask why can make all the difference.

Have you ever noticed your horse or dog trying to tell you something? 💚

What happens during an appointment?📅

If you’ve never booked an animal chiropractic appointment before, you might be wondering what to expect.

Every appointment starts with a chat about your horse or dog’s history, lifestyle and any changes you’ve noticed.

From there, I’ll carry out a full assessment, looking at posture, movement and how the body is functioning as a whole.

Only then do I begin treatment, using gentle McTimoney chiropractic adjustments where appropriate.

Before I leave, we’ll go through any aftercare advice and discuss whether any follow-up appointments are recommended.

No two appointments are ever the same because no two animals are the same.

Myth vs Fact 🐎🐶

MYTH: Chiropractic is only for animals with back pain.

FACT: Chiropractic isn’t just about the back.

When assessing a horse or dog, I look at how the whole body is moving. Restrictions can occur in different joints and may influence posture, movement and the way an animal compensates.

Many owners don’t contact me because their horse or dog is obviously lame, they get in touch because they’ve noticed subtle changes. Maybe their horse isn’t bending as well on one rein, or their dog has become a little reluctant to jump into the car.

These small changes can sometimes tell us more than obvious signs.

Every animal is different, which is why a thorough assessment is such an important part of every appointment.

🐶Five signs your dog might benefit from chiropractic care

Our dogs can’t tell us when they’re uncomfortable, but they often show us in other ways.

Some things to look out for include:

🐾 Slowing down on walks
🐾 Reluctance to jump into the car or onto furniture
🐾 Stiffness after resting
🐾 Sitting slightly to one side
🐾 Not wanting to play as much as they used to

Not every dog showing these signs will need chiropractic treatment, but changes in movement are always worth paying attention to.

As a McTimoney Animal Chiropractor, every appointment starts with a full assessment to understand how your dog is moving before deciding on the most appropriate treatment.

Small changes in movement can make a big difference to quality of life.

🐴 Meet Chalky!

It was lovely to meet Chalky for his first treatment to ensure he’s in top shape as he gets ready to start driving again!

Thank you to his owner for trusting me with his care and taking the time to leave a lovely comment about his treatment:

Highly recommend katie, she has just done my driving pony, iv not seen a pony yawn so much, he was really relaxed.

🐎 Five signs your horse might benefit from chiropractic care

Horses are incredibly good at adapting, which means they don’t always show obvious signs when something isn’t quite right.

Some subtle changes you might notice include:

🐴 Becoming stiffer on one rein than the other
🐴 Difficulty bending or maintaining an outline
🐴 Changes in behaviour when ridden or handled
🐴 Uneven muscle development
🐴 Feeling different to ride than they normally do

These signs don’t necessarily mean your horse needs chiropractic treatment, but they can indicate that something has changed and is worth investigating.

Every horse I see receives a full assessment before treatment, allowing me to identify areas that may benefit from chiropractic care and advise you accordingly.

Sometimes it’s the small changes that tell us the most.

🐾 “Why Regular Check-Ups Matter”

We often wait until our animals are showing obvious signs that something isn’t right, but regular check-ups can help identify smaller issues before they become bigger ones.

Whether your horse competes every weekend or your dog enjoys countryside walks, keeping them moving comfortably is always the goal.

🐴 🐶“What is McTimoney Animal Chiropractic?”

Ever wondered what happens during a chiropractic appointment?

As a McTimoney Animal Chiropractor, I assess the whole body to see how your horse or dog is moving. If joints aren’t moving as they should, it can affect comfort, posture and performance.

Using gentle, precise adjustments, the aim is to restore normal joint movement and help your animal move more freely.

Every animal is assessed individually, so no two treatments are ever the same.

Have you ever wondered if chiropractic could help your horse or dog? Get in touch today to find out ☺️

For both horses and dogs, animal chiropractics isn’t about pampering, it’s about helping the body move and function as it should.

Using the McTimoney technique, gentle and precise adjustments address subtle misalignments that can impact movement, comfort, performance, and behaviour. Because animals compensate so well, these issues often go unnoticed until stiffness, reduced performance, or discomfort appear.

Chiropractic care can help support:
• Comfortable, balanced movement
• Reduced tension and stiffness
• Injury recovery and prevention
• Long-term musculoskeletal health

Preventative care isn’t a luxury, it’s an investment in your animal’s wellbeing 🐾
