Ammonia-free colour basically means no harsh alkaline agent forcing the cuticle open. Instead it works with your hair, not against it. The result? Colour that sits beautifully, feels softer, and your scalp doesn’t end up feeling like it’s had a disagreement with a chemistry set.

I use L’Oréal INOA and Dia, both ammonia-free, both brilliant. INOA is an oil-based colour that works without any ammonia at all. Dia is perfect for toning, blending greys gently, adding gloss and richness. Even the lightener I reach for is ammonia-free.

Does it actually work though? Yes. Genuinely. The colour is vibrant, it lasts, and your hair stays in good nick.

It’s not a compromise. It’s just a smarter way to do it.
