Menopause: What can actually help your skin?
If menopause has changed your skin, you might be wondering what you can actually do about it.
There isn’t one answer, because menopause doesn’t affect every woman’s skin in the same way.
If your skin has become drier or more sensitive, your skincare may need to change with it.
If you’re noticing changes in texture, firmness or overall skin quality, treatments such as Microneedling can help stimulate collagen production.
And if changes in facial volume are bothering you, dermal filler may be another option to consider.
My advice? Be wary of anything being sold as a miracle solution for menopausal skin. There are some very effective options available, but what I'd recommend will always depend on your skin and the changes you're experiencing.
If menopause has left you wondering what your skin needs now, come and have a chat with us.

Menopause: Navigating change
Menopause is a natural stage of life, but that doesn't mean it's always easy.
Changes in oestrogen can affect everything from sleep and mood to temperature regulation, energy and skin.
And sometimes it’s the sheer number of changes happening at once that can make you feel less like yourself.
As a doctor, I think it’s important that we talk about menopause without either medicalising a normal stage of life or minimising its impact.
There is support available, and understanding what’s happening in your body is a very good place to start.
Throughout this month, we’ll be talking more about menopause here on our feed, including some of the changes you may notice in your skin.

Beyond aesthetics: the workout your jaw didn't ask for
If you regularly clench your teeth, your jaw muscles can spend hours working far harder than they need to.
And you might not even realise you're doing it until you wake up with an aching jaw, notice damage to your teeth or your dentist points it out.
The good news is that if the problem is an overworked muscle, relaxing that muscle can help relieve the symptoms it's causing.
📩 And that brings our Beyond Aesthetics series to a close. If you're affected by teeth clenching, or any of the conditions we've covered over the last two weeks, book a consultation with Dr Farmah to find out whether we may be able to help.

Beyond aesthetics: when tension reaches your head
We often talk about carrying tension in our shoulders. But for some people, tight, overactive muscles around the neck and shoulders can be associated with headaches too.
And when headaches like this keep coming back, it's worth looking at whether muscular tension could be contributing rather than simply reaching for another painkiller.
One more Beyond Aesthetics post to go: treating teeth clenching.
📩 If recurrent headaches are affecting you, book a consultation with Dr Farmah to discuss whether medical aesthetic treatment could help.

Beyond aesthetics: this isn't just sweating
Choosing clothes around it. Keeping a spare shirt nearby. Worrying whether somebody else has noticed.
Excessive underarm sweating - or Hyperhidrosis - can take up a ridiculous amount of headspace.
And people can spend years living with the inconvenience and embarrassment without realising that excessive sweating can be a medical condition.
So finding out there are effective treatments available can genuinely be life-changing.
Next up in our Beyond Aesthetics series: when muscular tension could be contributing to your headaches.
📩 If excessive sweating is interfering with your day-to-day life, book a consultation with Dr Farmah to discuss your options.

Beyond aesthetics: when your jaw won't give you a break
You use your jaw all day without giving it much thought.
Until opening your mouth feels uncomfortable. Or pain around the jaw becomes something you're conscious of every single day.
TMJ problems can have a surprisingly big impact for something most of us barely think about when everything is working normally.
And if overactive jaw muscles are contributing to that pain, there may be ways we can help relieve it.
Next up: the medical condition people often mistake for simply “sweating a lot”.
📩 Persistent jaw pain or discomfort? Book a consultation with Dr Farmah for an assessment.

Beyond aesthetics: getting your life back from migraine
Anyone who lives with chronic migraine knows it isn't simply a bad headache.
It can mean cancelled plans, interrupted working days, and constantly wondering whether another attack is coming.
So when we talk about successful treatment, we're not only interested in the number of migraine days. We're interested in what having fewer of them gives you back.
Next in our Beyond Aesthetics series: jaw pain and TMJ problems.
📩 If you're living with chronic migraine, book a consultation with Dr Farmah to discuss your symptoms and treatment options.

Beyond aesthetics: when pain becomes normal
There are patients who come to see us with absolutely no interest in changing how they look.
They just want something to stop hurting.
And when you've lived with pain for months or even years, it's surprising how much you can adapt your life around it before asking whether anything can actually be done.
Over the next two weeks, we’re going to share some of the medical concerns we see and treat in our aesthetics clinic that have very little to do with ‘aesthetics’.
Because sometimes the most significant result isn't one you can see.

New nose. Now what?…
We've shown you Jimmy's result and taken you through the treatment itself.
But a consultation shouldn't only prepare you for what happens in the treatment room.
You also need to know what to expect afterwards, what you should and shouldn't do, and how long your result is likely to last.
That's why aftercare isn't an add-on to treatment. It's part of it.
And that brings us to the end of Jimmy's non-surgical nose job series.
Six videos, one very happy barber, and hopefully a much clearer idea of what the treatment actually involves.
📩 If you've followed Jimmy's journey and you're wondering whether non-surgical rhinoplasty could be right for you, book a consultation with Dr Farmah.
