I deleted something the other night.
Not because it wasn’t true.
I’d written about what a beautiful National Massage Day I’d had. ...and it really had been beautiful.
Then bedtime happened.
My daughter was exhausted. I was exhausted. Feelings became big, she had a meltdown… and I didn’t manage the moment in the calm, understanding way I thought I should.
Later that evening, I deleted what I’d written about my beautiful day.
As though one painful ending had somehow made everything that came before it untrue.
That bothered me enough that I needed to write about it.
Because motherhood and complementary therapy have grown side by side in me, and somewhere along the way I seem to have developed this expectation that because I understand these things, I should always be able to manage them.
But knowing about the nervous system doesn’t remove my nervous system.
Knowing how to hold space doesn’t give me endless capacity to hold it.
And being able to accompany another person through difficult emotions doesn’t mean difficult emotions stop affecting me.
The following morning, my daughter and I talked. We came up with something very simple that we can use next time we're both reaching that point.
And these two hands became part of that story too. ❤️
Being human isn’t evidence I’m doing it wrong
A very personal October reflection on anger, shame, repair, receiving support, and finding our way from head to heart again.

Today we begin our journey through the Face The World products with Rainforest Cleansing Lotion 🌿

And I want to show you more than what is inside the bottle.

In a Face The World multisensory facial, cleansing is the beginning of an experience.

Warmth. Scent. Sound. Rhythm. Touch.

Rainforest brings the fresh aromas of bergamot and lime alongside tropical birdsong and cascading water, while the silky cleansing lotion is slowly worked across the skin...and for a little while, the woman who has spent her day doing gets to simply receive 🤲🏻

That is why, throughout Pro-Touch Awareness Month, I’m introducing these products through the treatments they actually become part of, rather than simply showing you a row of bottles...because at Bee’s Holistics, what matters first is the woman in front of me, how she is and what she needs that day.
That’s what guides how I use each product and the techniques I choose to work with it 🤲🏻❤️

And if you particularly love something you experience during your facial, you can enjoy it at home too 🌿
Face The World products are available for home use, so the cleanser, moisturiser, serum or facial oil you meet in my treatment room can also find its way onto your own bathroom shelf.

I’ll put a direct link in the comments for anyone who would like to browse the range in their own time. And if you’re visiting for a treatment, ask me what I have available, I usually keep a small selection in stock too.

Sometimes it's lovely when a scent or texture you first associate with being cared for becomes part of an ordinary moment at home ❤️

OH… SO YOU FINALLY BOOKED? 👀😂

I’m coming to you today from the highly glamorous location of…

the face hole in my massage couch.

Because there’s one sentence I hear in various forms all the time:

“I’ve been meaning to book for ages…”

Usually life was going to calm down first.

Except life apparently didn’t get the memo 😅

So we wait until the shoulders are up by the ears, the jaw is clenching, the back is complaining, or we suddenly realise we genuinely can’t remember our last massage.

But massage isn’t a reward for coping well.

It doesn’t make everything outside the treatment room disappear.

It simply creates some time where you can be the one lying down, being supported and not doing the doing for a while.

No productivity points required. 🤲❤️

And as we celebrate Pro-Touch Awareness Month, that’s something I want to talk about too 👐🏻professional touch doesn’t only belong at the end of the road when you finally feel you’ve done enough to justify it.

Now I want to know…

What usually makes YOU finally book a massage? Discomfort, exhaustion, or that sudden “Blimey, it’s been ages” moment? National Massage Day and Pro-Touch Awareness

“I’ll book when things calm down.”

It sounds sensible, doesn’t it?

I’ll get through this busy week first.
I’ll sort everyone else out.
I’ll wait until work settles down.
I’ll book when I have more time.

Except life has a habit of replacing one thing with another.

And somewhere along the way you notice your shoulders are permanently somewhere near your ears, you’re clenching your jaw without realising, or your back seems to be physically carrying the week you’ve just had.

Sometimes women arrive in my treatment room almost apologising for how much they need the hour.

There’s nothing to apologise for.

Massage isn’t a reward for having coped well enough.

It isn’t going to remove the responsibilities waiting outside the treatment room, and I’m not going to promise that an hour on my couch will somehow “fix” stress.

But it can be an hour where you are the person being looked after.

Warmth.
Unhurried touch.
A comfortable couch.
Quiet if you want it.
Conversation if you want that instead.

And nobody needing anything from you for a while. 🤲❤️

“Rest is not idleness.” - John Lubbock

As I celebrate Pro-Touch Awareness Month throughout October, I want to talk about professional touch as it really happens in my treatment room ,not as a luxury reserved for when everything else is finally done, but as one of the ways we can make room for ourselves amongst ordinary life.

What usually makes you finally book a massage, discomfort, exhaustion, or simply realising it’s been too long?

My Pro-Touch Fundraising Pledge continues throughout October, and this time I’m supporting Samaritans.

When I originally chose my charity, I was deciding between PAPYRUS and Samaritans. Sadly, PAPYRUS entered administration in September and its services closed, so I’ve moved my fundraising to Samaritans, another charity that has always been close to my heart.

Samaritans provides a listening service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for anyone who needs someone to talk to. 💚

And I’d like to say thank you for your support in a very Bee’s Holistics way 👐🏻

Everyone who donates through my JustGiving page during October and leaves their name will go into a draw to receive:

A 35min back massage at Bee’s Holistics in Harborne.

To take part:
💚 Donate through my JustGiving fundraiser and leave your name.
https://www.justgiving.com/page/beesholistics-supoorts-samaritans
💚 Follow Bee’s Holistics on Facebook or Instagram so you can see the winner announcement.

If you’re not local, you can still take part. If your name is drawn, you can gift the massage to someone who can visit my treatment room in Harborne.

A little small print: the massage can only be claimed at Bee’s Holistics in Harborne, Birmingham. There is no cash alternative. The prize can be gifted to a named person, and standard consultation and treatment suitability apply.

💚T💚h💚a💚n💚k💚 y💚o💚u 💚
for supporting Samaritans with me this October 💚

O is for OPEN TO SUPPORT. 🍂

And I can’t think of a more fitting way to begin October.

Today is National Massage Day, it marks the beginning of Pro-Touch Awareness Month, and this year we’re exploring CO-REGULATION.

Something I see regularly in the treatment room is the woman who finally lies down after a busy week…and then tries very hard to relax. 😅

Right. I’m here now. Switch off.

If only brains came with that button.

Massage isn’t a test of how well you can relax. You don’t need to arrive peaceful or leave everything outside the door.

Part of professional touch is the relationship around it too, consent, boundaries, pace, listening, an unhurried environment and the presence of another person who isn’t asking anything from you for a while.

Sometimes another person’s steadiness simply makes our own a little easier to find.

So the first letter of our October acrostic is:

O — Open to support.
You don’t have to hold everything alone.

And perhaps instead of asking “How do I make myself relax?”, we can occasionally ask:

“Can I allow myself to be supported?”

At Bee’s Holistics, the woman comes first. The tool comes second. 🤲❤️

I’d love to make co-regulation tangible rather than just another wellbeing word:

Who, or what kind of safe touch, makes your body go, “Ahhh… I can soften a little here”?

And just like that, it's the last day of Softly Strong September 🍂
So… did I spend the entire month calm, grounded, patient and beautifully regulated?
Of course.
Except for the losing my patience, overthinking, getting overwhelmed and knowing exactly what might help me while choosing not to do it 😂
Apparently all the HeartMath, breathing practices, reflexology and everything else in my toolbox still haven't turned me into Yoda.
And actually, I'm quite glad...because I don't want Bee's Holistics to be a place where I stand on one side saying, “Look how well I've mastered this, now let me teach you.”
I want to share what I'm genuinely practising in my own life too.
And September reminded me that resilience without hardening isn't about becoming unaffected by life.
We can still wobble.
We can lose patience.
We can fall into an old reaction.
We can forget everything we know for five minutes 😅
What matters is what becomes possible afterwards.
Notice. Pause. Repair. Return. Begin again.
So our final letter is:
R ••• Rise and begin again.
Tomorrow doesn't require a shinier, calmer, more sorted version of us.
We simply get another opportunity to meet life again.
Softly Strong September🍂 not perfected.. Practised 🙏🏻💛
I'd love to know what are you taking with you from September? 🐝

29/09/2026

What if “goodbye” is really another way of saying “you matter to me”? 💛
See you soon.
Text me when you get home.
Take care.
Love you.
Such ordinary words. We say them every day, often without thinking...but underneath them is connection...and connection matters in complementary therapy too.
A lot of what I offer at Bee’s Holistics comes back to creating space for you to notice your body, your needs, the people you love, the things that matter beneath all the doing....and today’s E in Softly Strong September is Extend Love.
Send the message.
Give the hug.
Say the kind thing while you’re thinking it.
Nothing dramatic. Just making the love that’s already there a little more visible.
Don’t let familiarity make you forget what a privilege it is to have someone to love today 💛

Who came to mind as you read this? Maybe text them and tag them here 👐🏻
Extend the love... making it more tangible 👐🏻
