So what’s going on?

This is exactly why comparing training on PRICE alone makes absolutely no sense.

Ask:

What is the exact regulated qualification?

Which awarding organisation?

What are the entry requirements?

What does the practical training actually look like?

How many learners are there?

How are you assessed?

What qualifications do I need BEFORE I can enter it?

And crucially, what qualification will I actually leave with?

Then compare the prices.

Cheap doesn’t automatically mean bad.

Expensive doesn’t automatically mean good.

Know what you’re buying.

Then decide what it’s worth.

One of the most useful things I can teach you takes about two minutes.

Before buying a regulated qualification:

1. Get the qualification number.
2. Search it on the Ofqual register.
3. Check the awarding organisation.
4. Read the EXACT qualification title.
5. Check the level and size of the qualification.

Don’t rely on the headline on somebody’s website.

Check the qualification itself.

And yes — do this with us too.

A good education provider should WANT you to understand exactly what you’re buying.

Save this before you book your next qualification.

This might upset a few people.

But somebody needs to say it.

We’ve spent years criticising practitioners for what they don’t know.

My question is:

Who told them they knew enough?

Who sold the course?

Who decided two days was sufficient?

Who handed over the certificate?

Who told them they were ready to treat the public?

Practitioners absolutely have a responsibility to practise safely and stay within their competence.

But training providers have a responsibility too.

Because you cannot remove the foundations to make training quicker, cheaper and easier to sell…

…and then act surprised when there are gaps.

That’s why we’re going back.

Get your certificate folder out.

Not because I want to know how many courses you’ve done.

I want you to answer one question:

What regulated qualifications do you actually hold?

Awarding organisation.

Qualification title.

Level.

That’s it.

Because a CPD certificate, an accredited course and an Ofqual-regulated qualification are not interchangeable simply because they all arrive on nice paper.

And I’m increasingly meeting experienced, talented practitioners who were never taught the difference.

THE HIDDEN COST OF CHEAP TRAINING

Cheap training rarely stays cheap.

It becomes expensive when you realise the certificate does not meet entry requirements for the next qualification.

It becomes expensive when you need to repeat the course because you still do not feel confident.

It becomes expensive when you cannot access the insurance, progression or professional opportunities you expected.

It becomes very expensive when poor knowledge leads to a complication you were never properly taught to recognise or manage.

Price matters.

But value matters more.

A strong training provider should be able to explain what qualification you will receive, how you will be assessed, what prerequisites are required, what progression it creates and what support exists after the course ends.

If they cannot answer those questions clearly, the low price is not the bargain you think it is.
