Hi, I’m Joanne 👋🏼

I’ve been behind the chair for 15 years and I genuinely LOVE what I do. Highlights/foils are an all-time favourite of mine ❤️ but I offer a range of services and love keeping things varied.

When the opportunity to have my own studio came up, I just couldn’t pass on it. It was exactly what my little overwhelmed brain needed. 😂 I wanted a calm, peaceful space where I could put my own stamp on things and create the kind of environment I’d always wanted.

I know what I love, what I don’t, and the kind of experience I want my clients to have — safe, calm, welcoming and relaxed.

What I love most about hairdressing isn’t just the hair. It’s how you feel when you leave. That little boost of confidence, making someone feel beautiful, and giving you a couple of hours where you can just switch off. And the friendships I’ve made along the way? Honestly, they’re unmatched. 🤍

I’m also pretty sure I’m a walking, talking advert for ADHD and I have absolutely NO filter 😂 — but I like to think that’s part of my charm! I love a good old chat and I genuinely don’t know how to shut up, so if you come to see me, prepare to tell me your life story… because I’ll probably tell you mine too. 😂

One thing I’m not particularly good at? Social media. 😂 I’m a hairdresser, not a content creator! Remembering to take photos, actually taking good photos and then remembering to post them… it’s a whole other skill set. 🤣

To all the clients who have followed me through the years — thank you. You’ve trusted me with your hair, your stories, your highs and your lows, and I genuinely couldn’t have built this without you. 🤍

So whether you’ve been sitting in my chair for years, you’re returning after a little while, or you’re completely new here…

My beautiful littlest boy let Mama cut his hair for the first time in 4 years 🥹✂️

Some of you will already know that Reid Alexander struggles with autism, and everyday things that many of us take for granted can feel like a huge challenge for him.

So when, a few weeks ago, he agreed to let me cut his hair ready for starting nursery — in Mummy’s new salon — it honestly felt like such an unreal parenting moment. 🥹❤️

I’m so unbelievably proud of my little boy. 🥹

And yes… Mama definitely cried afterwards! 😂❤️

I'm thrilled to announce that I've opened my own studio!

Starting Monday, June 15th, 2026, all appointments will be held at my new location in Bathgate, at 8 Glasgow Road, EH48 2AA. While there is onsite parking, it may be a bit tight if you're not the most confident driver, so I recommend using the show park across the road which offers plenty of space—look out for my car there! Other nearby parking options include the lot behind the Regal Theatre and the car park between Aldi and Lidl.

The building houses several flourishing small businesses, many of which you might already know, including Sk Make Up Stuio and Spice & Paint Nails.

As excited as I am about this new chapter, it does feel bittersweet. My time at Hope Hair Studio with Nicola, Kim, Megan, and Ehilidh over the past three years has been truly special. I’m incredibly grateful for the support and love from these amazing girls, who helped reignite my passion for my work 💕

Thank you all for your unwavering support throughout the last 15 years, making this exciting opportunity a reality for my little business. I can't wait to welcome you all to Joanne Slattery Hair Studio!
