Just give me 50 minutes 🙌🏻🪄
Our new reception desk is finally here and I’m obsessed 😍
Another finishing touch added to our beautiful home clinic. I wanted to create a space that feels welcoming, private and luxurious from the moment you walk through the door and it’s all come together perfectly 🤎

5 days and 2 massages later….
After noticing that her compression was far too tight we reassessed the fit and changed the compression.
These photos show how her bruising, swelling and indentation marks look five days later. She’s also told us she managed to get a proper night’s sleep for the first time since surgery which is so important during recovery 🥰

Every person’s surgical goals are different. This client chose not to have a belly button created as part of her procedure and we’re supporting her recovery with care tailored to her.
Surgical choices are personal. Always discuss your options, risks and aftercare with your surgeon.
She’s now almost 5 weeks post-op and doing amazingly 🥰

Aftercare is an important part of your surgical journey and it’s essential to plan for the costs before booking surgery.
Post-op massages, compression garments and treatment for complications such as a seroma may all come at an additional cost. This can be especially important if you have surgery abroad, as you may need to access private care when you return home.
Please always consider the full cost of aftercare not just the surgery itself and make sure you have a realistic budget in place. Your recovery and wellbeing deserve proper support 🫶🏻

Six days, two post-op massages and a fresh compression fit
The biggest win? She’s feeling so much more comfortable. We reassessed her measurements, looked at how her garment was sitting, and adjusted the plan around what she needed.
Recovery is personal, and the little details matter. So proud of her for taking things one step at a time and trusting the process 🥰
And just look at that waistline already 🤯😍

⚠️ THIS IS WHAT INCORRECTLY FITTING COMPRESSION CAN LOOK LIKE
Compression should feel firm and supportive but it shouldn’t roll, dig into the skin or create deep pressure lines.
This client arrived wearing compression that was no longer suitable following her surgery. Swelling and body measurements can change considerably during the early stages of recovery, meaning a garment that was originally supplied may need reassessing.
The deep lines across her back, beneath her breasts and behind her knees showed us that the pressure was no longer being distributed evenly.
We have now:
🤎 Re-measured her properly
🤎 Assessed where the garment is creating excessive pressure
🤎 Recommended more suitable compression for her current measurements and the exact surgery she has had
🤎 Put a supportive aftercare plan in place
🤎 supplied her with some of our spare compression until her own arrives
🤎 Started nursing her back to comfort
This is why being assessed by a trained post-operative specialist matters. We don’t just perform lymphatic drainage we monitor swelling, skin integrity and compression throughout recovery making adjustments when something no longer looks or feels right.
Your surgeon’s instructions should always be followed but if your garment is rolling, digging in, causing broken skin or leaving persistent deep marks, contact your surgical team and arrange a professional compression check.

What concerns me as a post-op specialist
1. Being advised by your surgeon to have a course of massages within a certain timeframe… but booking one every two weeks and expecting the same outcome.
Consistency matters. Your treatment plan should be based on your procedure, swelling and stage of recovery not fitted in randomly when problems begin.
2. Buying a random compression garment from Amazon without taking measurements or checking whether its design is suitable for your surgery.
Compression isn’t one size fits all. The wrong garment can roll, dig in, create harsh lines or leave areas without the support they need.
3. Seeing a therapist who isn’t trained in post-operative care.
A standard body massage and post-op lymphatic drainage are not the same treatment. Your therapist needs to understand surgical procedures, incisions, altered lymphatic pathways, compression and post-operative warning signs.
4. Deep, painful pressure on newly operated tissue.
Post-op lymphatic drainage should be gentle and adapted to your stage of healing. Pain and bruising are not proof that a treatment is “working.”
4. Not resting, returning to work too soon, barely drinking water and failing to fuel your body properly.
Your body is trying to repair itself. Adequate fluids and a balanced diet containing enough protein, energy, vitamins and minerals all support recovery and wound healing.
5. Ignoring your surgeon’s instructions because somebody online recovered differently.
Your surgeon knows exactly what procedure was performed. Social media advice, another client’s recovery and a therapist’s opinion should never override the instructions of your surgical team.
6. Waiting until after surgery to organise your aftercare.
Book early so you understand your compression, appointments and recovery plan before surgery not while you’re swollen, sore and overwhelmed.
Good surgery deserves good aftercare. Recovery isn’t the time to guess, cut corners or copy somebody else’s plan.

8 weeks is not an expiry date for compression.
Lots of people think, “Wear it for 8 weeks then you’re done,” as though every body heals at exactly the same rate.
There is no universal finish date. It depends on your surgery, how you’re healing, whether you’re still swelling and how your garment fits.
It isn’t simply about reaching a certain week. It’s about looking in the mirror and feeling happy with what you see, your swelling having settled and your body remaining stable when the garment is removed alongside your surgeon’s advice.
I’m also a big believer in weaning out of compression, rather than suddenly removing it one day and never wearing it again. Begin with short periods without it and gradually increase that time while watching how your body responds. If swelling returns, you’re probably not be ready to stop completely.
Your garment should also be regularly checked and resized throughout recovery by your nurse or therapist. Compression that is too loose, too tight or badly fitted isn’t supporting your healing properly.
Your body doesn’t heal to a calendar. Listen to it.
