On Friday 25th September the book has been launched with a dedicated event at HMP Grampian which saw the participation of around 60 people including HMP Grampian staff, different organisations working in recovery ( Runforever, Scottish Recovery Consortium, ADP, Familiesoutside), members and students from RGU. The agenda gave voice to institutions, charities, organisations, political representatives and the Writers in Residence who read their poems and shared their lived experience

HMP Grampian running club: How it's transforming lives behind bars Paolo, 55, first started running with inmates at a prison in Milan. It planted a seed which is now blossoming in Peterhead.

TRANSFORMING LIVES GRANTS: We are delighted to welcome back Runforever as one of our recipients of grants for projects in 2024!

Last year, Runforever's fantastic rehabilitation process for prisoners and former offenders - providing a run club at HMP & YOI Grampian - was funded by Athletics Trust Scotland. We once again have supported this project.

"The grant will help continue with the running club at HMP & YOI Grampian which started last February 2023," said Runforever chair Mark Hope.

"This works as a bridge between prison and the community welcoming at the same time runners from inside and outside the prison, overcoming risks of stigmatisation.

"In so doing, it enables the formation of a community of support benefiting inmates, ex-offenders, marginalised communities, and individuals with mental health issues by breaking the barriers and walls between them."

A massive thank you to Athletics Trust Scotland for supporting us with the Transforming Lives Grant!

Kipchoge said “My dream is to make this world a running world”. Runforever shares this dream and takes it to marginalized people in prison and in the community who can highly benefit from what this sport can inspire. A big thank you to ATS for your continuous support and for helping us make this world a running world, which is a healthy world, a peaceful world, a joyful world because running is not just running. Running is dwelling poetically!

DONATION – RUNFOREVER Runforever is a non-profit organisation founded in March 2023, promoting educational projects (based on marathon running and the Feldenkrais method® – awareness through movement) fostering paths for humanising health care within prison environment and the community towards a future society foster...

Runforever, who support HMP Grampian's running club, have been recognised by Audrey Nicoll MSP in a motion to the Scottish Parliament, which received cross-party support.

Ms Nicoll highlighted the benefit of the running club to the health and wellbeing of those in our care, through providing the opportunity for regular exercise and relationship building.

She also praised HMP Grampian's recently established Recovery and Wellbeing Strategy group, who work with Runforever and Robert Gordon University to run the group.
