The Hamble Clinic
Nurse Prescriber led Medical Aesthetics and Skin Clinic. Specialising in natural looking results.
If you’ve ever tried to squeeze an appointment in between work, school runs and the other 400 things you’ve got going on, you’ll know it’s not always easy. 😂
And when the time you actually CAN do has already been booked, it’s even more annoying.
That’s one of the reasons I’m increasing my clinic capacity from January.
The hope is that you’ll have more choice when booking, particularly if you need a specific time rather than just taking whatever’s left.
I’ll share more details nearer the time, but I wanted to let you know what’s coming.
And while I’m here, thank you for keeping me busy enough to have this particular problem. 😂💙

One of the things I didn’t really expect when I started the clinic was how well I’d get to know some of the people coming through the door.
There are patients I’ve been seeing for years now. We know what’s going on in each other’s lives, have a good laugh and occasionally remember we’re supposed to be talking about their skin. 😂
Some have genuinely become good friends.
It’s a funny old job really. People come in because they want something doing to their face, and somewhere along the way you end up getting to know the person attached to it.
And that’s one of my favourite bits.

Jowls are a funny one. 😅
If something looks like it’s heading south, you’d naturally think the answer is to lift it back up.
You’d think…
But sometimes it’s actually the little dip just in front of the jowl that’s making it look more obvious.
And occasionally, adding a bit of volume there can make the jawline look smoother.
Sounds backwards, I know.
The trouble is, filler isn’t always going to help. Some faces really don’t need any more volume around the jawline.
That’s why I spend so much time looking at what’s actually going on before we start talking about treatments.
Because adding filler is the easy bit. Knowing whether it’ll help is rather more important.
Cheek filler has got itself a bit of a reputation. 🥺
I think a lot of that comes down to the results people notice. The more exaggerated ones tend to stick in your mind.
And after seeing a few of those, I can understand why some people assume cheek filler means big, round cheeks.
But people consider cheek filler for all sorts of reasons.
Some want more volume. Others have noticed changes in their face as they’ve got older and are wondering what, if anything, might help.
They’re both asking about cheek filler, but they’re not necessarily asking for the same thing.

I’ve been a nurse for over 20 years, so I’d like to think my eyes are reasonably well trained. 😂
But I do like a bit of data.
This machine is offered as part of every consultation at the clinic. It uses different types of light to help me see things like pigmentation, redness and skin texture that aren’t always obvious just by looking.
And I think it’s really useful for patients to see the images too.
We can sit down, have a proper look at what’s going on and talk through what it all means.
It doesn’t make decisions for me. I’ve still got to use my brain, unfortunately. 😏
But the more information I’ve got, the better informed those decisions can be.

Shoutout to the “It starts at 9pm?! At night?!” generation. ✊🏼😂
Every year there’s at least one 😅
“I’ve got something on Saturday…”
Lovely.
And when were you planning on telling me this? 👀 😂
