Makes it all worth while
Ricky,
Good to see you after a few years absence. Thank you so much for your help with my shoulder today. I am happy to report that it is now pain free after your treatment.
I do rather marvel at the comparative simplicity of your treatment despite the enormous complexities of our bodies! A few gentle pushes here, a tweak or two there plus a deft touch or two and 'ere long the pain has gone. You do it all with such ease, speed and skill! I greatly admire your specialised talents!
Thank you so much.
With warm regards,
Ian
A very kind review just received today, I am so pleased to of helped you Dave
David Hickman recommends Richard Hunter Sports Therapist.
I’m writing this because simply saying “thank you” isn’t nearly enough.
The initial referral to Ricky was for an ongoing issue with back pain which had been managed by different physios over the years through regular massage. In 2024 the pain had become debilitating, inhibiting my movement on the squash court. It must be said at the outset that Ricky’s approach is completely different to any other physiotherapist I have been treated by. In fairness Ricky’s business card promotes a Sports Therapist, not physiotherapist so this should not have come as a complete surprise.
Ricky has a unique and deep understanding of the body and how it works, right down to the detail of what connects to what and consequently how it can adversely affect ligaments, muscles, etc. In his own words he needs to understand what is causing the problem before he can attempt to treat it. No lie down and let’s try to massage it better here!
I could go on for pages about Ricky’s friendly, professional approach and treatment, however suffice to say for the first time in decades I’ve had no back pain for months and quite a few laughs along the way as well.
Ricky has subsequently completely resolved an issue with golfer’s elbow and a pain in the side of my foot which came on during a squash match.
Thanks to Ricky’s magic I’m back successfully competing in squash age group Masters competitions both in Scotland and Europe.
If you are looking for a sports therapist who truly investigates and treats the source of your pain or discomfort, I cannot recommend Ricky too highly.

I recently went to Ricky, after trying other sports therapists, due to issues with both legs, that could be eased by physio, but just didn't go away, often getting very painful, with shooting pains and spasms, and preventing me eventually from cycling. Even walking, already impacted by old knee injuries, had become almost impossible. Whilst some progress had occurred with previous physio, it was not sorting out the core issues, so progress was not being furthered, and i still had a lot of pain.
Ricky indicated that through previous accidents and trauma, my glutes and hamstrings in particular were not working properly, possibly for years, resulting in other muscles becoming overloaded and tight, and then resulting in the shooting pains. I was feeling very low, as I could no longer enjoy the outdoors.
After a few sessions with Ricky, I was stunned by the difference, and the relief that the shooting pains and spasms significantly reduced and I could start walking more again, and walking fully upright for the first time in months. This hugely helped me feel much more positive, and that I really might be able to get back to a more outdoors lifestyle, and hopefully back to some cycling.
I now plan to see him regularly for a bit of "care and maintenance".
He is realistic about expectations, and the work required to strengthen up, after muscles have not been working, so I still have much to do beyond the treatment, but feeling so much better now.
I would highly recommend Ricky, and wish so much I had known about him months, if not years, before.

After suffering decades of neck pain due to chronic migraine Richard has managed to strengthen my neck muscles which were so weak. This has made a significant improvement. Also, after treatment, my legs and arms are much stronger too. His knowledge of the body and how it works is amazing. I cannot recommend Richard highly enough. His professional and caring approach is second to none.

A very kind review I just received yesterday and want to share on here
I went to see Ricky with a long term chronic back issue, with significant restrictions on my life. I had done many MRIs, seen many doctors and physios with no solution. Ricky’s approach seemed scientifically logical. After 1 session I felt immediately much much better. And after 3, totally cured. Absolutely incredible! I am able to walk, exercise and move normally. It’s life-changing. I would highly recommend Ricky to anyone.

I just received this very kind feedback and thought I would share it
I went to Ricky after various sessions at other sports therapists due to issues with my left hip, in particular extreme soreness in my TFL, that I just couldn't sort out.
It affected my cycling, running and at times walking. Prior to seeing him my left glute and hamstring had not fired properly for two years, resulting in my TFL being loaded up and overworked.
I was training for an endurance cycle and couldn't progress due to these issues. A few sessions with Ricky were a game changer. He had me firing and I felt like a new man.
My performance on the bike improved massively as I effectively got my left side back and use of the larger muscles. Without his help there's no way I would have been able to complete my endurance ride.
I now see him once a month just for a tune up. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He genuinely cares. he's passionate about what he does and loves the challenge!
