I couldn’t grey blend her!! However I could have achieved a lighter result if I was happy with her hair being uneven or brassy and obviously that isn’t the look we were going for..

I did EVERTHING I could to get as light and close to her natural as possible whilst being mindful of not causing excessive damage to her hair and we even did a big chop.

The reason we hit some stubborn areas over the top/at the very front, is because when box dye is applied these are the areas that continuously get overlapped.

Using an acidic demi is key here.. as it means I was able to cover her natural root without lifting her natural colour, meaning no demarcation line as her new root grows in.

ALL HAIR FADES WARM!!!! Does your clients no how hugely home care effects the longevity of their colour?..

Even with the best products in salon, how the hair is cared for after that hair leaves us will play a massive part in how quickly the colour fades/goes brassy.

Things that’s will effect colour longevity ⬇️
⚡️Cheap shampoo
⚡️Heat without heat protector
⚡️Too much heat
⚡️Damaged hair (struggles to hold colour)
⚡️Frequent (unnecessary/too much) hair washing
⚡️Sun
⚡️Sunbeds
⚡️Chlorine
⚡️Hard/Unfiltered water
⚡️Fake tan

I struggle to give clients an average on how quickly their colour will fade because different lifestyles & homecare + generally hair health etc has such a huge effect.

And even with the perfect everything, all hair will still fade warm over time!! 👀 Tag someone who needs to hear this!!

She was told it would take 4 YEARS to get what she wanted!🤯

Grey blending (in my mind) doesn’t actually mean your client has to go full grey 👀

For me grey blending is a low maintenance alternative to ful permanent colour root tints, blending the root and embracing a bit of their natural, for some that means grey all over but for some it means finding a middle ground with cooler browns and blondes.

Removing that harsh demarcation line she has for a much softer regrowth.

⚡️ Swap out permanent colour for an acidic demi.

⚡️ Blending the pepper is as important as the salt, don’t be afraid to add that depth back in where necessary, pepper generally sits around a base 5.

⚡️ Keep your foil sections fine and lightly teased, we aren’t adding heavy definition, we are blending 2 contrasting depths.

Grey blending > Badger Stripe

Every grey blending consultation I starts with the client telling me she likes the idea of embracing her grey but doesn’t want to look old..

The thing is unless you’re getting your roots touched up every two weeks can it really be classed as grey coverage when 80% of the time your clients are walking around with a badger stripe waiting for their next root touch up..

Grey blending removes the harsh demarcation line and more often than not even though the client is technically visually more grey than they were it doesn’t feel like it because their roots are not longer being highlighted my permanent tint…

Make it make sense but as someone doing these transitions all the time.. it’s the main feedback I get! 💪🏽
