📢 Barcelona aprueba su Plan de Participación Ciudadana 2026–2028!

Barcelona ha adoptado una nueva hoja de ruta para fortalecer la democracia participativa, haciendo que la participación ciudadana sea más abierta, inclusiva e innovadora.

Con una inversión de 3,63 millones de euros, el plan incluye 46 acciones estructuradas en torno a tres pilares estratégicos:

🤝 Participación abierta
🌍 Participación diversa y universal
💡 Participación innovadora

Entre las principales medidas destacan:

✅ Una nueva edición de los presupuestos participativos
✅ La mejora de los procesos participativos en los distritos
✅ Mayor accesibilidad e inclusión
✅ La creación del nuevo Consejo de Niños, Niñas y Adolescentes de Barcelona
✅ El refuerzo de la participación digital a través de la plataforma Decidim Barcelona
✅ Nuevos formatos híbridos de participación e iniciativas de innovación democrática

Para el OIDP, esta iniciativa demuestra cómo los gobiernos locales pueden seguir fortaleciendo la democracia situando a la ciudadanía en el centro de la toma de decisiones y garantizando la participación como un derecho fundamental para todas las personas.

As we close our special Municipal Times series dedicated to the UCLG World Congress in Tangier, this final edition looks back at the political momentum generated throughout the 100 Days of Local Multilateralism and, more importantly, looks ahead to what comes next.

📢 The first version of the programme for the 25th OIDP Conference is now available!

From 21–23 September 2026, Kraków will welcome local and regional governments, practitioners, researchers, civil society representatives and participation experts from around the world to reflect on the future of democracy under the theme:

"Hope and Renewal in the Face of a Global Crisis of Democracy. The Future of Participatory Democracy from Local to International Governance."

Over three days, the conference will feature plenary sessions, thematic discussions, interactive workshops, study visits and networking opportunities, exploring topics such as citizen participation in times of crisis, deliberative democracy, democratic transformation, and the role of local governments in strengthening participation.

🎉 Como parte del , seguimos celebrando las iniciativas que han marcado 25 años de democracia participativa en todo el mundo.

Hoy recordamos la Mención Especial de la 13.ª Distinción OIDP "Buena Práctica en Participación Ciudadana" (2019), otorgada a Valedoras de la Ciudadanía Transfronteriza, una iniciativa de la Eurociudad Cerveira-Tomiño (Portugal 🇵🇹 y España 🇪🇸).

Este proyecto pionero creó una figura independiente para defender los derechos e intereses de la ciudadanía que vive a ambos lados de la frontera, promoviendo la participación ciudadana, eliminando barreras administrativas y fortaleciendo la cooperación entre comunidades vecinas.

Las Valedoras demuestran que la democracia participativa no entiende de fronteras y que la colaboración entre gobiernos locales y ciudadanía es clave para construir territorios más inclusivos, conectados y resilientes.
