a lot to be thankful for this year. 🤎

bringing La Vela back, trying out markets for the first time, meeting new people, and seeing this little business grow in ways i didn’t expect.

really glad i gave it another go, and even more grateful for the people who made this year a little more special.

happy thanksgiving! 🍂🤎

taking a little break from the usual behind-the-scenes of candles and room sprays to share something a little different today! 🤭

i know i’ve introduced myself a few times on here already LOL, but i thought i’d share a few more random (and probably unexpected) things about the person behind La Vela by Charren. 🙈

because there’s a little more to me than just making candles and room sprays! 😂

anyway, here’s a little more about me!

a little reminder for myself and maybe for some of you too. 🤎✨

i think it’s so easy to get caught up in everything we want to accomplish that we sometimes forget how much we’ve already done.

i have so many ideas and plans for this small business of mine, and of course, i’d love to make them all happen sooner rather than later! but i’ve also learned that not everything has to happen right away. 🤍

we all have different priorities, responsibilities, and things going on outside of what people see on social media.

and just because someone else is moving faster doesn’t mean you’re moving too slowly. there’s no need to rush through life just to feel like you’re keeping up with everyone else.

enjoy where you are while working towards where you want to be. 🤍✨

✨ room sprays are still available! ✨

sharing a few things you might not know about our room sprays plus a little bit of what goes on behind each bottle.

at home, i’ve actually been reaching for them a lot lately, especially after cooking or after cleaning the house. a few spritzes around the room, then i’ll usually light a candle after too. sometimes i want the instant refresh from a room spray and the cozy feeling of having a candle lit. best of both worlds!! 😌

☁️ velvet bloom
☁️ amber pour
☁️ salted breeze

still available online ✨

also thank youuuuu to everyone who’s ordered and has been loving them 🥹

so… tada!

maybe all the “when are the candles coming back?” messages got to me. 🤍 so i thought we could squeeze in a little something for the season before 2026 ends.

more soon. 👀✨

sharing this here because i’d really love your support 🤍

nominations for the 2027 Canadian Choice Award are open, and La Vela by Charren can be nominated under the Candle Makers category.

when i look at an award like this and think about all the amazing candle makers across Canada, being recognized honestly feels a little out of reach for my small business. but at the same time, i think about everything it has taken to keep La Vela going.

i started La Vela in 2021, and a lot of life has happened since then. i became a mom, had two kids, took a break from the business, and eventually found my way back to it.

and it hasn’t always been easy finding time for La Vela. between raising two little kids, working part-time (sometimes into the evenings), keeping up with my other commitments, family life, and everything else that comes with it, there are a lot of days when La Vela has to fit into whatever time i have left. but somehow, i still make time for my candles, and i think that says a lot about how much this little business means to me. 🤍

sometimes that means pouring when i finally have a few hours to myself, making content whenever i can, designing my own labels and graphics, packing orders from home, or trying to plan what’s next in between everything else going on.

La Vela is still small. it’s still handmade. and there’s still so much i want to do with it. but i’m really proud that after everything, i’m still here doing it. 🤍

and 2027… i’m actually really excited for. i have plans for La Vela that i’ve been thinking about for a while, and i’m excited to see how much more this little business can grow.

so if you’ve ever been a customer, supporter, friend, fellow small business owner, stopped by my booth at a market, recommended La Vela to someone, shared my posts, or simply followed along, and you genuinely feel that La Vela deserves to be recognized, i would really appreciate your nomination for the 2027 Canadian Choice Award under Candle Makers. 🤍

nominations are anonymous, so i won’t know who submitted one. i just know i’d be incredibly grateful that someone took a few minutes to put La Vela’s name down.

i don’t know where this will go, but i think this little business deserves for me to at least try. 🤍

and thank you for giving me a reason to keep making time for it 🤍

have you ever actually thought about the vessel your candle comes in? it’s probably not the first thing you think about when buying a candle, but the vessel actually matters more than you might realize.

when you’re the one making them, you start looking at vessels a little differently. candles can come in glass, tins, ceramics and other types of containers. but not every container is necessarily suitable for candle use. things like the material, construction and how it handles heat are important to consider when choosing a vessel. after all, they’re going to be exposed to heat, hot wax and an open flame every time the candle is burned.

for La Vela, i choose vessels that are intended for candle use. of course i care about how they look too, but knowing what they’re actually made for is just as important to me. 🤍
