I am Amanda, the founder, formulator, botanical enthusiast and driving force behind Elua Skin CO. I have led a winding journey filled with education, research, as well as my own personal skincare triumphs and woes that have led to my path as a skincare formulator. Most of my journey is built upon my wonderment and appreciation of the medicinal and skin healing powers of whole botanical plants. I discovered how truly powerful they really are and how they are able to heal so much more fully and completely than overly processed and synthetic ingredients. This realization was in a way not completely deliberate. I was continuously experiencing skin irritations with so many products that I needed to find an alternative that wouldn't leave my skin biome in a state of constant unbalance.

It was on a trip to Maui when I first discovered the healing powers of a few specific botanical oils after a rash on my legs broke out almost immediately after applying a sunscreen. This was obviously not an ideal situation given I had just started on vacation and was set to embrace a beautiful day at the beach. I needed to find something quickly that would alleviate the irritation so I turned to a natural alternative in hopes I would find some relief. I came across a botanical oil blend of kukui, macadamia, and tamanu nut oils, all of which you'll find in many of Elua's formulations, which target both irritated and sensitive skin. All of these oils help in reducing inflammation, supporting skin barrier function, soothing and protecting the skin with antioxidants, essential fatty acids and ( vitamins A,C,B and E). I applied the oil 2-3 times a day and watched in amazement at how quickly the rash disappeared. After such miraculous results in skin healing with only pure organic botanical oils I knew I was on the right path.

There's a reason why Kukui Nut oil, specifically, has been used by Hawaiians for generations for its remarkable ability to deeply pe*****te the skin, forming a protective barrier against the harmful effects of saltwater, sunlight, and drying winds. It's healing powers are immense and why native Hawaiians as well as visitors from abroad continue to benefit from it still today. Both Macadamia Nut and Tamanu Nut oil also have tremendous skin soothing properties and the ability to protect the skin's moisture barrier. The trifecta effect of all three oils truly unveils the repairing abilities as evidenced by my skin healing experience.

As I continued my glorious vacation with my toes dipped in the warm sand enveloping the scent of the plumeria flowers and the sea, I couldn't help but wonder what other products I was using that may contain toxic chemicals or ingredients that are potentially irritating and harmful for my skin. I now knew that there were many more effective natural alternatives out there to discover for a healthier me. From this point forward, I set off to learn whatever I could to feed my skin naturally with what it needed in order to be healthy, nourished and not irritated. I found myself immersed into learning anything related to plant botanicals, herbs and extracts and what they could do for our biggest organ, our skin. Hours and hours became years of research, enrolling in courses and endless formulating. It became almost an obsession to learn everything I could about ingredients that were more natural yet backed by science. Now at the age of 50 with a decreased level of collagen and elastin and a noticable increase in dryness, dullness and hyperpigmentation I looked for specific botanicals and extracts that would aid in all of these concerns as well as protect and nourish my skin barrier. I dove right in and tested with much trial and error on myself as well as many other test subjects and eventually started to see a significant difference in the tone, texture, suppleness and a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles with myself as well as each participant. The results and responses were evident and so full of joy so I knew I was on to something amazing and absolutely worth sharing with all of you! I wanted to help anyone that was possibly suffering from similar sensitivities and needed healthier natural options to obtain the healthiest version of themselves, so Elua Skin Co. was born!

My HEART

I believe love is the most powerful healing tool available. I love what I do and I feel so lucky to bridge the worlds of science and nature together- sharing all that plants have to offer with others. It just feels right and purposeful to bring the abundance of them in sync with one another to enhance the beauty and health of as many people as possible. I am blessed with many loving people around me, two wonderful boys, an adorable cat, and the love and support of my cherished husband. I treasure what is pure - what we find naturally around us...a warm breeze off the ocean, the hint of a beautiful fragrant flower, the sweet smile of my my granddaughter, Alana, as she looks at me and warms my soul. These are the things that are simple, yet rich in beauty and importance, that bring me joy and inner peace. Much of this is given to us by Mother Nature herself, so we must protect, trust, and embrace her givings.

"Elua" in Hawaiian means " two."
