Sexual and reproductive facts about Turner syndrome
Turner syndrome can affect puberty, sexual development, fertility, and pregnancy, but experiences vary greatly from person to person.
Most girls with Turner syndrome do not undergo spontaneous puberty because the ovaries often do not produce enough estrogen.
Hormone replacement therapy with estrogen, followed by progesterone when appropriate, can help initiate and maintain normal pubertal development.
Sexual desire can be normal. Turner syndrome does not automatically mean a person lacks sexual interest or cannot have a sexual relationship.
Vaginal development is generally normal, so sexual in*******se is usually physically possible after appropriate pubertal development.
Some people may experience vaginal dryness or discomfort, particularly when estrogen levels are low. Medical treatment can help.
Natural fertility is reduced because ovarian function is often impaired. Some people have spontaneous menstrual periods and, rarely, spontaneous pregnancy.
Pregnancy can sometimes be achieved using assisted reproductive technology and donor eggs, but pregnancy requires careful cardiovascular evaluation because Turner syndrome can be associated with serious heart and aortic complications.
Turner syndrome does not usually affect sexual identity or orientation. Having Turner syndrome does not determine whether someone is heterosexual, bisexual, le***an, or another sexual orientation.
Contraception may still be necessary for someone who can ovulate spontaneously; Turner syndrome does not automatically eliminate the possibility of pregnancy.
Important: Anyone with Turner syndrome considering pregnancy should have specialized medical and cardiac assessment beforehand because pregnancy can carry significant cardiovascular risks.

TURNER SYNDROME.
Turner syndrome is a genetic condition affecting females in which one X chromosome is completely or partially missing. It usually occurs randomly and is not typically inherited.
Common features can include:
Short stature and delayed or absent puberty due to reduced ovarian function.
Infertility or difficulty becoming pregnant.
A broad chest, low hairline, or swelling of the hands and feet, although appearance varies considerably.
Heart or blood-vessel abnormalities, particularly involving the aorta.
Kidney, thyroid, hearing, and blood-pressure problems can also occur.
Intelligence is usually normal, although some people have specific difficulties with spatial or mathematical tasks.
