The flat-bottom barrel was the very first style of sauna we ever built—and while we’ve added plenty of modern designs since then, this one will always be special to us.

Finished with a durable metal roof and the timeless warmth of a wood-fired heater, it’s a reminder of our roots and how far Hot Barrels Saunas has come.

Sometimes, you just can’t beat a classic.

We do love our modern saunas — and when the setting is right, they’re absolutely the way to go.

But there’s still something about a classic sauna that just works.

Traditional log construction, a wood-burning heater, and a dedicated change room make this one simple, practical, and built for year-round use.

🔥 NEW!! THE AVALON 🔥

We’re excited to introduce the Avalon, a brand-new 8’ × 8’ outdoor sauna built around one of the best features you can have in a traditional sauna: true three-tier seating.

The Avalon’s three bench levels let you choose how you want to experience the heat.

🔥 Upper tier — hottest and most intense löyly
🔥 Middle tier — a more moderate sauna experience
🔥 Lower tier — ideal for cooling down or gentler heat

Because heat rises, the upper benches place more of your body — including your feet — into the sauna’s hottest zone. It’s a layout experienced sauna users will immediately appreciate.

The Avalon also features:

🌲 Massive 2¾” double-groove Eastern White Cedar log walls
📐 8’ × 8’ sauna with an impressive 10’ × 10’ overall roof footprint
⚫ Standing-seam black metal roof with extended overhang
🪟 Large tempered-glass front window
🔥 Available with wood-burning or electric heat
🇨🇦 Handcrafted in Canada
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Generous space for sitting, stretching out and enjoying the sauna with family and friends

The combination of thick timber construction, huge glass, three-tier seating and that black architectural roof makes the Avalon one of the most exciting new outdoor sauna designs we’ve seen.

The CT Avalon is now available through Hot Barrels Saunas.

DIY pricing starts at $14,077. Pricing for heater options, delivery and professional installation is available by request throughout Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario.
