How Long Does Lip Blushing Last?

Well… it totally depends on how your body responds to be honest.

Lip blushing is considered semi-permanent/permanent cosmetic tattooing - meaning the pigment gradually fades and changes over time.

Longevity varies from person to person, and maintenance or colour-refresh appointments may eventually be desired.

Everything from what you ingest, to your exposure to UV rays, and even fluctuations in hormones can change the longevity.

Some may find the pigment lasts for only a year, while others may find the pigment lasts for 3-5 years.

They’re gonna turn out beautiful no matter what.

So what are you waiting for?

Your lips aren’t an Instagram filter — and your results shouldn’t be compared to one.

When considering lip blushing, social media can be a great place for inspiration and I certainly welcome any and all inspo pics, but it shouldn’t be your expectation for results.

Every client has a different natural lip tone, shape, skin type and undertone — which means healed results will look different on everyone.

Photos online may also be freshly done, taken under professional lighting, edited, filtered or enhanced.

It’s also important to remember that not every client is going to have lip filler.

Lip blushing is about enhancing what you naturally have — defining the borders, improving the appearance of symmetry and adding a soft wash of colour that heals beautifully into YOUR lips.

The best result isn’t the one you saved on Instagram.
It’s the one that was thoughtfully customized for you.

Inspiration is always welcome.
Individual results are the goal.

Trust the process. Trust your artist.

The reality is, I have absolutely no idea (and neither do you) about how your lips are going to respond to anything at all during the process of a lip blushing session.

Yes, there are intake forms and waivers that are signed about your medical history, blah blah blah. We follow protocol. ☑️

Yes, we have a consultation together about what you like and don’t like about the shape and colour of your lips, and what your lip goals actually are. ☑️

And OF COURSE, I will never touch those needles to your lips unless you are absolutely 100% content with what we’re doing. ☑️

However… and this is important…. Neither of us know, IN FULL, what the outcome of the session is going yield. We don’t know if you’re going to have a sensitivity to the numbing creams unless you’ve been in contact with them before. Same goes for the pigments. We don’t know how well your lip tissue is going to retain those pigments unless we’ve done this together before.

This is why we ensure that we follow-up with one another, with a 6-8week maintenance session.

Sometimes, a sensitivity to the numbing creams may have activated your immune system and your lips have swelled up a bit too much for my liking, so we call it quits and come back to it another day with a different solution.

Sometimes, your lips may have decided “hey, I don’t like you - get out”, and when you come back to see me the tissue has pushed most of the pigment out.

Or, sometimes once they have healed, you decide “I think I want them darker” so we decide to adjust the pigments ratios and/or colours.

Communication is key. Trust is importance. And patience through the process is valued.
