Happy Monday & Family Day!
This is GBTC's last Family Day, last year we were open and this year we are open again!
I can't miss my chance to say my goodbyes to everyone I can!
11-8 are our hours today since I will have much to do to prepare for the new owners to take over tomorrow evening, I might as well remain open just a bit longer for you!
Today will be hard as I'm sure tomorrow will be the hardest, so if you see me crying, pay no attention LOL!
See you soon!

Today's post will be hard for me. I would have done a video but none of you needed to see my blubbering face this early in the morning!
Before I say the obvious, ( that we are open 11-7 today 😉 ) & to let you know that GBTC will remain open every day until February 20th ( yes, including Family Day), I would like to take a moment to say a big thank you to this community for the support over the last year and a half.
Tuesday February 20th will be my last day at GBTC and after we close at 7 pm, I will hand over the keys to new owners.
Over a decade ago, I was called to New Brunswick through a series of dreams that I had after a serious car accident.
At the time, I didn't even know where NB was on the map but I followed what I call 'spirit' to this place. It hasn't been easy that's for sure but I don't regret one second of it!
I brought 3 boys with me that needed security, friends and roots and I have given them that.
New Brunswick has given them that.
Two of those boys are now fully grown and going on with their lives, one of my son remains and needs to now do that.
As some of you know, I have a son that has a traumatic brain injury that he suffered at age 17. This community rallied around us and supported us through that trying time in 2016 and we will always remain in full gratitude for that however, the time has come where I had to make a difficult decision to either stay and remain in New Brunswick & GBTC or leave the province to seek supports for him and I chose to do just that.
In a few weeks time, I will pack my son up and return to my home province to get him the supports that he needs to live a full and happy independent life- because he deserves that.
Nearly 8 years ago a special person in this community told me that I would be an asset to this province but because I was so overwhelmed with what I was facing as my son's sole caregiver- I couldn't see it.
I had many rough years in between my son's accident and the opening of GBTC but because of his words, I kept going.
GBTC is/ was the direct result of his words to me and through this place, I had hoped to be able to give back- to be an asset to this wonderful province that I will always call my home.
At least- I hope I have. I want to believe that as I leave-that I gave more than I took.
I have been able to give to charities, help some of our Veterans, rescue dozens of cats and bring some sunshine and healing via the Red-Light Therapy, to this community and I hope that through my efforts, I will continue to do that for many years to come.
GBTC was my dream and I somewhat achieved that, but all good and great things MUST come to an end.
I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to:
Tyler VanGuelphen , John Ames, Rebecca Smith & the entire CBDC Charlotte County-Kings board and to the rest of you for your support and love over the last few years.
I could not have done it without you!
I also want to thank the new owners for their bravery in making this change for their own lives- It takes a special kind of strength to take this leap of faith.
I want to assure you that the new owners will be as lovely as me and will continue to bring you everything I have and more!
I am blessed to have found such wonderful people to take my dream and run with it and to make it their dream too.
They will be changing the name to make it theirs ( I will leave it up to them to announce that) but the same good vibes and atmosphere will remain.
Please go easy on them for me 🙂
They will inherit the packages in the system but I ask you to use those up soon and continue to support their dream!
They are taking the same big leap of faith that I did and deserve every opportunity and support that you gave me.
I am excited to see from a distance how they take my dream and run with it, doing the things that I wanted to but didn't get the time or chance to do.
I have every ounce of trust and faith they will do very well.
Please continue to support them through their learnings and growing as you did me.
Being a business owner is not easy but so entirely worth it.
If I don't get to say my goodbye to you in person, I say that now.
Thank You Charlotte County and Thank You New Brunswick!
Thank You- Thank You - Thank You!
-Heather
