Koaino Soaps are all natural handmade soaps. Made in small batches the old fashion way in Clarence Creek, Ontario. Our family has always been eco-conscious.
Made in small batches the old fashion way in Clarence Creek, Ontario using only natural ingredients that are healthy for you and our environment. All of our soaps are scented with 100% plant-based essential oils and contain no chemicals or fillers such as hormone-disrupting phthalates and parabens . All soaps begin with saponifed oils and are palm oil free. Palm oil is the largest contributor to orangutang habitat disappearance. Because our soap is natural and preservative free, please understand that for best results it should be used within 1 year. Commercially available soap in fact is not soap, it is actually a detergent. This is because, during soap making, a chemical reaction called Saponification occurs which naturally produces glycerin. This by-product is a super moisturizer and it’s valuable to the cosmetic industry. Conventional “soaps” have their naturally produced glycerin extracted, striping their natural moisturizing properties. As a result, the cosmetic industry is able to cash in by using this glycerin in other products such as moisturizers and hair conditioners. Because the glycerin has been removed in, it contains dangerous fillers, chemicals, petroleum, and irritants which are known human carcinogen (see David Suzuki, Environmental Working Group) . While commercially manufactured soaps usually costs less, the impact on your health and our environment is shocking! Our History:
Koaino Soaps started operating in 2014. We began with a few bar soaps but by 2015 we started making lip balm. Our recipe was very well received by our customers and quickly became one of our most popular items. Koaino Soaps is a one-women business, owned and operated by Rebecca. The reason for beginning the business was to provide all natural handmade products for our family. But, after the birth of our first daughter in 2014, it became more and more apparent that plastic, especially single-use plastic was polluting our oceans and planet at an alarming rate! We continued to produce our lip balms in plastic tubes until we found a supplier that was able to work with us and provide a quality product that was plastic free. In the fall of 2018 we launched our lip balm (same recipe as before) but in a plastic free recycled paper tube. In 2018, we committed to switching all our packaging to plastic-free and since January 2019, our products are all packaged plastic-free. The demand for our unique eco products has been overwhelming. This demand has allowed us to grow from a small local family business that sells exclusively at farmers markets to a province wide supplier of zero-waste natural products. More than anything we are so grateful that there are so many people concerned about reducing their single-use plastic consumption. I hope that everyone enjoyed their last weekend of summer.
Thank you to everyone that came out to the Farmers' Market Harvest Market this past Saturday. It was great to see so many familiar faces! A big thank you to Belinda and the Market volunteers for all their hard-work.
I wanted to give everyone a heads-up. This year, as an exception I will be closing my workshop for personal reasons for most of October. I will not be processing any orders starting October 1st until October 28th.
I will make another reminder before we close, but wanted to give everyone a heads-up. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but appreciate your understanding.

Come and see me at the Harvest Market this Saturday September 19th from 9am to 3pm at the This market will feature over 130 vendors and will be outdoors at the Cumberland Village Heritage Museum. It's a great outing that allows free entry into the Cumberland Museum!
This is our last market of the season. Come and stock up on local produce and goodness.

I've been quiet on here lately as I'm busy working behind the scenes. It's been catch-up time while my girls are back in school.
Thank you for supporting my eco-business - it's a decision that makes a real difference to a real family.
I know that it can be less convenient than shopping on amazon but thank you to those that stick to your values and go out of your way to support a local independent brand in order to keep your money local. We are grateful!

I hope that everyone had a good week.
We had the opportunity to harvest our potatoes at this past weekend. We are so lucky to have a little garden at .
My heart is full as I reflect on the years that we have been gardening there. Not only do Ian and Suzanne generously give us some space to garden at their organic farm, but they also welcome us with open hearts.
Our family loves to garden and eat homegrown food, but our 0.38 acre lot at home has been maximized. It’s so nice that we have a little extra room for things like potatoes and pumpkins, that take up more growing space.
We harvested about 125 pounds of potatoes from our Mariposa garden. We harvested them and now they are curing for storage in our little greenhouse at home. This was a great harvest and we will enjoy these during the cooler months.

This morning was bittersweet with the girls returning to school. I miss their giggles and experiments in my workshop as I go back to my work on a full-time basis.
I am very grateful that I got to spend most of the summer with my girls. We had a fantastic summer of adventures and got to see some very special people in our travels.
I hope that everyone had a great summer. I am grateful that you are here!
