It was another great day Red Bay. Two cruise ships in port today. It was an absolute joy to welcome the “Star Pride” and “World Navigator”. An awesome fall day and a ton of fun had by all.
Next up … the “Viking Polaris” tomorrow for a full day excursion.
WELCOME “VIKING POLARIS” 😊
Good morning Red Bay. As we are expecting cruise ships tomorrow, Monday, and Wednesday of this week, we kindly ask that all boats be moved away from the dock by 6:00pm this evening. As always, thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

EDIT/UPDATE: An update for this post and I would like to give a sincere apology to our very own Whalers Restaurant. 😞. When I did up this post, I was under the false impression that our restaurant was closed for the season. They have informed me however, that not only are they open this coming Sunday while our ships are here, but they will be open Monday and Wednesday as well while our other ships are visiting. This error is completely on me and I sincerely apologize for any confusion it may have caused!
So, please be assured that in addition to the information provided below, if you would like to enjoy the awesome deliciousness of Whalers Restaurant one more time before they actually do close for the season, drop into Red Bay on Sunday, Monday, or Wednesday of this coming week, when our ships are in port, and enjoy a wonderful meal and experience, as our 2026 season comes to a close.

Sunday, October 4/26 will be a “double ship” day Red Bay! 😃. Arriving for full day excursions are the beautiful “World Navigator”and “Star Pride”. How awesome is that? Weather forecast is looking promising for Sunday at the moment, so let’s hope that holds for us.
Our Whale Exibit will be open, Whalers Quest Ocean Adventures will be in full operation, and Quaint Quarters Cafe will be open for business at the waterfront, so we’re expecting an exciting Fall Sunday at the Dock !!!
Why don’t ya drop by sure ??? 😊. We’d all love to see you. The dock is restricted to Pedestrian traffic only while our guests are in port, but this is just for safety reasons and you are all still welcome to park your vehicle offsite and take a nice short leisurely stroll to the Dr. Tuck Building. Nice fresh/salty air in your lungs !!!
….And on Monday and Wednesday of next week, we’ll be right back at it with the Viking Polaris and National Geographic Explorer to close out our wonderful 2026 cruise season! More on those ships a little later !!!
See ya at the dock !!!! 😃😃🚢 🛳️

A wonderful piece on our very own Cory Pike from right here in Red Bay. Thank you for your service Cory and the continued work you do to support other veterans. Well done indeed! 😊
Postulant Feature:
Cory Pike, CD – Veteran Advocate, Peer Support Leader & Community Builder
Cory Pike, CD, is a Nova Scotia–based veteran advocate, peer support leader, and community builder dedicated to improving the lives of veterans, first responders, and individuals navigating mental health challenges.
Born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador, Cory joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2001 as an Artillery Air Defence Soldier in Gagetown, NB, and served for 14 years. During his military career, he deployed to Afghanistan and was awarded the General Campaign Star – South-West Asia (GCS-SWA), as well as the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) in recognition of his service. His time in uniform continues to shape his commitment to supporting those who have served. Following his transition to civilian life, Cory became actively involved in veteran advocacy and peer support, volunteering as a veteran advocate and peer support coordinator with various veteran organizations.
After nearly 12 years of advocacy and supporting fellow veterans, Cory co-founded the Veterans Wellness Alliance, a non-profit, grassroots initiative focused on improving access to wellness resources, peer support, and community connection for veterans and their families. Through the Veterans Wellness Alliance, Cory helps develop and promote programs focused on mental health support, education, system navigation, and reducing isolation, ensuring veterans and first responders have practical tools, resources, and a strong network to support their recovery and well-being.
Cory is also a Volunteer Veteran Cadre with the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families, contributing his lived experience and perspective as a veteran to support initiatives focused on improving the well-being of veterans and their families. Cory serves as a Vice President within one of the 73 regions of Veterans Canada UN NATO, where he contributes to administration, outreach, and community initiatives, including memorial rides, coffee nights, brunches, and other gatherings that foster connection, rebuild camaraderie, and provide trusted spaces for veterans to engage with one another.
In addition, Cory is a Compassionate Caller with the Mood Disorders Society of Canada and is trained in Level 2 Peer and Trauma Support, Mental Health first aid, and Applied su***de intervention skills training. Through this role, he provides consistent outreach and peer support to individuals facing mental health challenges, emphasizing empathy, lived experience, and meaningful connection. Cory’s advocacy includes contributing to broader conversations around veterans’ policy, transition challenges, and access to care in Canada. He is passionate about helping veterans navigate complex systems and better understand the benefits, services, and resources available to them.
Beyond his advocacy and volunteer work, Cory is a devoted husband to his wife, Lisa, and a proud father in a large blended family of seven children. Family remains central to his life and continues to drive his commitment to service and community. At the core of Cory’s work is a simple mission: To ensure no veteran feels forgotten, unsupported, or alone after service.

Today, we pause to remember the children who never came home, honour residential school Survivors, and recognize the families and communities who continue to carry that history.
Here in Labrador, this day has a particularly deep meaning. We see the strength and resilience of Innu, Inuit and Indigenous peoples across our communities, and we know that reconciliation is not simply something we speak about it is a responsibility we must carry forward together.
On Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we listen, we remember, and we commit ourselves to the work that remains.
Every child matters. Every Survivor matters. Every story matters. May we honour the truth by building a Labrador and a Canada grounded in respect, dignity, understanding and reconciliation. 🧡
